"ケーブルを繋ぎノブをいじりながら、その瞬間ごとに生まれるモジュレーションとアーティキュレーションの一期一会を捉え、あるいは流れに身を任せながら音を構築していく。今やあまたある音楽との関わり方の中でも、モジュラーシンセはお世辞にも扱いやすいとは言えません。それでも世界中でこの楽器に魅了される人々は、きっと”自分だけの音”を探す旅の行程をも楽しめる探究者たちなのでしょう。
ここ日本でも多くの刺激的な音の探究者たちに出会うことができ、確かな広がりを感じています。
今回、キュレーションを務めることは楽しくもあり、挑戦でもありました。だってご紹介したいアーティストがまだまだたくさんいるのですから。
モジュラーシンセを軸とした独自の世界観と音楽性に、私が日々インスパイアされ続けているアーティストたち。その真摯な音楽的アティチュードが垣間見える音世界への旅の一端を、まずはこのコンピレーションを通して感じていただけたら、そしてその探究の結実一つ一つが、聴く人の好奇心をくすぐることができたなら、それこそが私たちの旅の原動力ともなるのです。"

"Connecting cables, turning knobs, and capturing the fleeting modulations and
articulations that emerge in each passing moment—this is a practice shaped as
much by intention as by surrender. Sometimes you build sound with careful
deliberation; other times, you simply let yourself drift and see where the current
leads. Among the many ways one can engage with music today, modular synthesis
is certainly not the most accessible. And yet, those who are drawn to this instrument
around the world are, I feel, explorers who find meaning not only in the destination,
but also in the journey of seeking a sound that belongs to them alone.
Here in Japan, too, I have been fortunate to encounter many such explorers—artists
whose curiosity and openness to sonic possibility are both stimulating and
reassuring. Through these encounters, I sense a genuine and quietly expanding
richness.

Curating this compilation has been both enjoyable and challenging. Enjoyable,
because I am surrounded by artists whose work continues to inspire me every day.
Challenging, because there are still so many more I wish I could introduce.
The artists featured here each inhabit their own world, shaped around the modular
synthesizer yet entirely distinct. Their steadfast musical attitude—their willingness to
listen, to probe, to follow sound where it leads—is something I admire deeply. If this
compilation allows you to feel even a small part of these worlds, and if the fruits of
their exploration can spark a moment of curiosity in those who listen, then that spark
becomes the very force that moves our own journey forward."
