Text by Traced Objects:

"The Jagged Dog" is type/token's second release on Traced Objects and finds them working with a looser, more texture based palette. Each track contains the signature sounds of type/token, sequenced synths layered across one another, looping sampled ambience, melodic pads and drones. "The Jagged Dog" introduces imperfect subtleties as well, soft and peaking distortion, digital clicks, the presence of the inherent noise in creating music like this.

Matt Nelson took inspiration for the albums title from David Toop's book- "Sinister Resonance." - "I've focused much more over the past little while on developing texture, rather than structure." Toop talks about finding 'pleasure in technological imperfections' and 'engagement with the noise that exists at all levels of the dynamic spectrum'. He writes about the relationship between sound and touch/texture, providing this quote from Walter Benjamin during a drug-induced 'experiment':

"A dog barks. Test subject speaks of a jagged dog and explains barking as an acoustic serration. The jagged dog is contrasted with the polished dog - that is, the quiet dog."
