"I described Darren Keen’s new project PROBLEMS as raw frequency dance music, the square and saw waves are presented simply and in your face. There are traces of early French house music and Glasgow artists like Dolby Anol here mixed with Darren’s strong composition and playfulness. The directness of PROBLEMS is crucial to its success and also reminds me a little of electronic dance music in general before wavetable synthesis sound design took over and in a lot of cases became overstuffed.

Darren has a long musical history, performing as The Show is the Rainbow, Touch People, and then recording a series of Footwork inspired albums for Orange Milk under his own name, and I’m always excited to hear what new direction materializes. I’ve heard that the PROBLEMS live set is really good; Darren’s been performing live a lot recently (sharing bills with Dan Deacon and Lightning Bolt among others) and I can see this material absolutely bumping through a massive system with subs."
