Both revolve around very short samples played through various different devices, which allowed Sutton to reconfigure them in a live “playing” kind of environment. Rather than endlessly repetitious, these loops are like amorphous forms, constantly shifting, evolving, always drawing your attention to a different moment within their short duration. The title “things that may not be connected” is in part a reference to these subtle changes in loops, as well as a reference to an ongoing interest of Sutton’s in high levels of pattern recognition in people.
