Pavonineは、2017年にStrange Rulesからリリースされた「Cordial」に続く、Dominic CoppolaとAngelo Harmsworthのコラボレーション・デュオによる2作目の作品です。本作は2020年末に構想され、2021年春に完成したもので、レコーディングや生活環境に関してはこれ以上説明する必要はないかと思います。

このデュオは、スパンが安定し、コンセプトが測定された、ミニマルな構造の数々を展開します。各トラックは、相反する要素に正確に焦点を当て、不思議なことにワイドスクリーンの催眠壁画のようにまとまりながら演奏されます。このアルバムは、静寂とアトモスフェリックのパターン化されたレイヤーで周波数スペクトルの全範囲を横断する大きなキャンバスに沿って巻き取られています。

Pavonineはミニマリズムの中に最大限の力を発揮し、風と波に揺れる海の上にある穏やかな雲に満ちた空のような二面性を持っています。Kevin Drummの "Sheer Hellish Miasma "を彷彿とさせる音色とテクスチャー、そしてYellow Swansの呪われたようなヴォイドゲイザーがこのトラックには含まれています。しかし、"Pavonine "は独自の空間を占め、再活性化された珍しい形の新しいモダンなサウンドを支配し、洗練しています。

"'Pavonine' is the second offering from the collaborative duo of Dominic Coppola and Angelo Harmsworth, following the 2017 "Cordial" release on Strange Rules. The album was conceived in late 2020 and completed in spring of 2021, which requires no further explanation when it comes to recording and living conditions.

The duo deploys an array of minimalist structures, steady in span and measured in concept. Each track is executed with a precision focus on antithetical components which curiously coalesce into widescreen hypnotic murals. The album unwinds across large canvases which traverse the full range of the frequency spectrum with patterned layers of static and atmospherics.

"Pavonine" is maximal in its minimalism, a duality like a calm cloud filled sky above an ocean ruffled with wind and waves. The tracks contain elements of Kevin Drumms "Sheer Hellish Miasma", reminiscent of its masterful timbre and texture, while at times also recalling the haunted void-gazing of the Yellow Swans. However, "Pavonine" occupies its own space, reigning and refining a new, modern sound which is reinvigorating and rare in form."

It was late, I was trying to finish something after everyone else had gone home. The tone came from nowhere and cut through the air for a second. Then it abruptly stopped. Then a series of beeps, like someone was dialling. Then silence. Initially spooked, I realised that, moving some papers around my always cluttered work desk, I’d knocked the phone off the hook. This routine – a held tone then fake dialing - the phone goes through if you’ve picked it up but not made a call. An attempt to get your attention perhaps. To fill an awkward silence maybe.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eI put the phone back, slightly off the hook, and recorded it with the voice recorder on my mobile phone. It was late, I was trying to finish something after everyone else had gone home. The tone came from nowhere and cut through the air for a second. Then it abruptly stopped. Then a series of beeps, like someone was dialling. Then silence. Initially spooked, I realised that, moving some papers around my always cluttered work desk, I’d knocked the phone off the hook. This routine – a held tone then fake dialing - the phone goes through if you’ve picked it up but not made a call. An attempt to get your attention perhaps. To fill an awkward silence maybe.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eI put the phone back, slightly off the hook, and recorded it with the voice recorder on my mobile phone.
