Only after slowly puttinng them together did I realize that it might function as a full release based around dfferent forms of feedback, or systems that self regulate in different ways and produce sound. The title came only at the end, when i was doing more research into feedback theory and realized i liked the idea of naming this collection after a form of regulation at the heart of feedback systems instead of the feedback systems themselves - perhaps because they often focus on very particular elements. Tobiraインストアショーケースでも素晴らしいライブを披露してくれたオーストリア・ウィーンの実験音楽家The Concept Horseが、2026年5月にイギリスの老舗実験レーベルChocolate Monkから50本限定でリリースしたカセットです。 フィードバックをコンセプトにした物音コラージュ〜物音ストレンジビーツ2曲、50分を収録。 版元即完のため最初で最後の入荷となります。 ※デジタル音源を無料でお送りいたしますのでお気軽にご連絡くださいませ 以下、作家本人による解説です。 "『On Governors』というタイトルは、スコットランドの物理学者兼数学者ジェームズ・クラーク・マクスウェルが1868年に発表した論文に由来する。マクスウェルの『On Governors』は、数学的および物理学的観点から見たフィードバック制御理論の基礎となる著作であり、フィードバックや自己制御・自己調整システムに関するより詳細な研究の礎を築いた。彼の論文は音そのものに焦点を当てたものではなく、むしろ蒸気機関において作用するフィードバックと制御の形態に焦点を当てたものであり、より一般的には、この論文は機械的なフィードバック形態に不可欠な調整と制御の形態の数学的基礎を確立するのに役立った。Governorsとは、フィードバックを中心に構築されたシステムにおける調整装置のことである。 このテープに収録された音源はすべて音に基づいたものであるが、私はこうした音とは直接関係のないフィードバック理論の基礎に興味を抱くようになった。なぜなら、最初の人工的なフィードバック装置／システムの一つは音とは無関係だったからだ――それは紀元前270年にエジプトで発明された、水位を一定に保つためのフロート弁であった。また、私たちの日常生活には他にもフィードバックに基づくシステムが溢れている（サーモスタットなど）。今回のリリースに収録された作品は、2023年から2026年にかけてウィーンで、様々な電子、電気音響、ノーインプット、モーター駆動、モジュラー、磁気フィードバックシステムを用いて録音されたものである。それらをゆっくりと組み合わせていく中で初めて、これらが異なる形態のフィードバック、あるいは様々な方法で自己調整を行い音を生成するシステムを軸とした、一つの完成された作品集として機能し得ることに気づいた。タイトルが決まったのは最後になってからであった。フィードバック理論についてさらに研究を進めているうちに、フィードバックシステムそのものではなく、フィードバックシステムの核心にある「制御の形式」にちなんでこのコレクションを名付けるというアイデアが気に入った。おそらく、フィードバックシステム自体が非常に特定の要素に焦点を当てがちだからであろう。これは第1巻であり、今後も続巻がリリースされる予定だ。 各面の最後の楽曲は、それぞれの楽曲に含まれる様々なフィードバックの形態を総括するような役割を果たしている。" レーベルその他作品はこちら...

I played a solo on Revox B77 and then Dylan asked me to do a CD for his Chocolate Monk label. After some thought, I decided to offer three compositions rather than try to reproduce the past moment of an improvised concert. I'm talking here about the composition of fixed sounds (to quote Michel Chion) or musique concrète to use Pierre Schaeffer's original terminology. I think I've spent more time in my life improvising than composing, and no one has ever reproached me for it.\u003cbr\u003eThe Latin title refers to the equivalence between the tension of a string and the elevation of the sound, but also to the link between the intensity of the lived and of the musical. Will the intensity of the former influence that of the latter? But it's also the tension on the trigger and the intensity of the reaction to it. The tension-release form is one of the most classic in musique concrète, and even more so since the advent of computer-assisted music. In Les objets inaudibles [2018], I decided to politicise this form, to create a struggle between these elements. In Erase my head [2019], it is the accumulation, erasure and diversion of random fragments that is at stake.
