They found their way onto compilations I still hold very dear; 'A Declaration' (with Vienna Press, VAK20) and 'Winter\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e Olympics' (VAK38 \/ VAK72), as well as 'The Male Activity Years' (VAK39), which cast a light on another now-defunct Winnipeg tape label, and featured a contribution from KUG affiliate Una Lasemé.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThen, after about three years of silence, an email arrived — fittingly, just before Christmas. But this time, it wasn’t merely a track or two: I was presented with an entire album, it's title reading 'All Are Punished'. I was excited to say the least.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAs I've since come to understand, it was intended for release on the fabled Ascetic House label in 2019, though for reasons unknown to me, it never came to light. ※当店限定販売です ドイツの実験デュオNarvalが、2025年9月にウェールズの実験レーベルDiscreet Archiveからリリースしたカセットです。 一発録音によるドローン7曲を収録。DLコード付属。 以下、レーベルによる解説です。 "Narvalは、ベルリンを拠点とするピーター・ストリックマンとエフゲニヤ・ヴァシレフによるデュオである。日常的な物体、自作の風楽器や打楽器、フィードバックシステム、ラジオやスマートフォン、ミニシンセ、ディクタフォンといった小型電子機器を用いて、各公演をその場所と密接に呼応させながら展開する。膨大な可能性を秘めたツール群から毎回厳選された少数の音源のみを用い、限られた音響で移ろいゆく場所と時間の感覚を創出する。建築的・社会的・音響的特性を持つ演奏空間自体が共同制作者となり、音楽的瞬間とジェスチャーの連鎖を形作る。 『Chitin』収録音源はミュンスターラント地方シェッピンゲン村で制作された。ここではNarvalの手法は風景的要素を抑え、より即興性に富むものとなった。鳥や昆虫がフレーム内を自由に行き来し、教会は幽霊たちの姿を幾つか明かした。 『Floor』と『Drop』は2025年6月から8月にかけ、クンストラードルフ・シェッピンゲンの二軒の古農家で録音された。『ブリクティウス』は地元の聖ブリクティウス教会で録音され、今年初めにベルリンのギャラリー・アドラーズホーフで初演された大規模作品『トロワトワール』の一部を構成する。『コーン』は一部をクンストラードルフの彫刻家スタジオで、一部をミュンスターラントの風景を特徴づける周囲のトウモロコシ畑内で録音された。 タイトルはキチンを指す。これは菌類の細胞壁や昆虫・甲殻類の外骨格に存在する天然の複合糖質である。硬くありながら柔らかく、保護的でありながら透過性を持つその性質は、磁気テープの表面を想起させるのと同様に、田園環境の質感をも連想させる。こうした特質が、アルバムの親密で触覚的な音響世界に共鳴している。 2018年、フィンランド・トゥルクのタイタニック・ギャラリーでのレジデンシー期間中に結成されたNarvalは、その後ベルリンのエラント・サウンド、アウスランド、シュパイラー・アクツィオンスラウム、ハノーファーのコネクター・フォーラム・フュア・クンステ、ベルリンのザールラント・ギャラリーで開催されたフェスティバル「No One Belongs Here More...
