HALVVA & Timothee Quost // }}}} TAPE

ポーランドのジャズデュオHALVVAと、フランスのトランペット奏者Timothee Quostが、2023年9月にイギリスの実験／エレクトロニックレーベルWaxing Crescentから80本限定でリリースした共作カセットです。

ポーランドの廃村Kocewkaという場所で録音したスリリングな実験フリージャズ2曲を収録。DLコード付属。 廃盤です。

以下、HALVVAによる解説です。

 "ポーランドの真ん中にある廃村、コセウカという場所でレコーディングした。そこは静寂に包まれた不思議な場所で、野生の動物たち、狼、鹿、鹿の鳴き声が夜になると聞こえてくる。彼らは近くまでやってきて、空はいつも見えている。私たちの友人で、レコーディングセッションとミックスを担当した音楽プロデューサーのカミル・パテルは、そこに家を所有している。彼の曽祖父の遺産で、彼はその家をDIYスタジオにした。Timothee Quostが近くでコンサートをやっていたので、コペンハーゲンで知り合った彼をセッションに招待したんだ。Timothee Quostが車で来てくれて、1時間ほど演奏したんだけど、すべてがとても本能的で、自然発生的で、ある意味別世界のようだった。このユニークな場所に来たからだと思う。"

Artist statement by HAŁVVA / Timothée Quost via the label: 

“We recorded at the abandoned village in the center of Poland, in the place called Kocewka, surrounded by only the deepest forest, old trees and empty fields of grass. It's a magical place of silence, full of wild animals, wolves, roe, deers, which sounds you can hear in the night. They come close and the skies are always visible. Our friend and a music producer, who was responsible for the recording session and the mix, Kamil Pater, owns a house there. It is his great grandfather's heritage, he turned the house into the DIY Studio. Timothée Quost was playing a concert nearby, we knew each other from Copenhagen and I invited him for the session. Timothée just drove here, we played for an hour, everything was very instinctive, spontaneous and in a way otherworldly. I guess because of the unique place we've been to.” 

"HAŁVVA is my favorite snack. Although very caloric, it is also very nutritious. It is a compact, eclectic organism, an electronic-modular product, intense, dense and unhealthy. Nostalgia broken by hyperactive euphoria, where radical brutalism meets the orbital sweetness of predictability."
