Review - Paris Transatlantic :
"The Parisian Metro has long attracted artists, writers and musicians: Joseph Beuys spent his honeymoon riding the subways of the French capital, Queneau and Cortazar were fascinated by the sociology of its interconnecting networks, and countless millions of travelers - tourists and local residents - have experienced its unique atmosphere and acoustics. Late in the evening of July 10th 2001, Dan Warburton took Jean-Luc Guionnet and Eric La Casa down into the depths of Pré Saint Gervais, a Metro station in the quiet north-east of the city, where, following no pre-determined plan, the three musicians - Warburton on violin, Guionnet on alto sax, La Casa on portable DAT recorder with stereo boom mic - explored the acoustics of the station, riding the elevators, taking the stairs, producing a rich and fascinating sonic map of the space through environmental improvisation. "Metro Pré St Gervais" is a unique and remarkably accessible aural document of free improvisation and sound art.
Best known in the US as a prolific writer for Signal To Noise magazine, British violinist / pianist / composer Dan Warburton's forthcoming releases include a solo project for Crouton Music's Folktales series, a duo album with Bruno Meillier and the long-awaited "Basement Tapes" (on David Tibet's Durtro imprint) with percussionist Edward Perraud and free jazz legend Arthur Doyle. "
