One of the oldest inhabitants of the region the Aetas are also some of the most fascinating and ancient nomadic and hunter gathering cultures. The release goes from the realms of the real to the imaginary, from transcription to syncretism, from concrete to abstract. An (un)real Sonic Exorcism filled with Ancestral Frequencies, Haunted Ghosts and other animistic spirits roaming the Pinatubo forests.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe release features a series of materials released in different formats from the Field recording digital only release, an LP and CD release to a special 7inch vinyl featuring an Interview with a bat hunter.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e“Kamana is a long due homage to the Aeta community that hosted me a few years back, fascinated by the endurance of these people and their connection to their land, devastated by the eruption of the Pinatubo volcano in 1991, they continued to go back to their ancestral lands surviving on basic agriculture and hunting bats and wild pigs. Living with them for weeks, I managed to capture some essential field recordings and sounds that form and com- pose the basis for this release, from the more reprocessed and interpreted LP\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\" class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e release to the pure field recording documentation of the digital release. It is meant to be accessible to all and provide a window to the livelihoods of these unique communities. His latest album, \"Body Pillow,\" marks an aesthetic investment in the immediacy of improvisation. Simple and spontaneous forms make way for complex sound worlds to gather and accumulate into immersive and dense environments. To make the record, Sam employed a multi-faceted approach, combining contact mic'd balsa wood resonators, pure data patches, general midi presets, a variety of synthesizers, and live percussion. Sam's musicality shines through his loose and organic style of playing, offering a refreshing contrast to the synthetic, unique, and occasionally alien sound palette. There’s a woozy, unpredictable quality that permeates these tunes. Each track’s own universe is ever-shifting with bursts of activity and a flurry of ideas carefully spaced between moments of pause. Storring's output is decidedly abstract in its general orientation, and this sensibility extends to his evocation of style, and as a result the album does not intentionally strive to sound like any particular Brazilian music, even if some audible influences and elements float to the surface. Instead, the music endeavours to convey broader impressions of the country—its beauty and its contrasts, the sounds of its urban and natural environments. And of course, music is a considerable part of Brazil's identity.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eMirante is easily Storring's most rhythmic record to date. Percussion plays a major role throughout, and at times is one of the key features that connects these pieces to the Brazilian canon.
