Caught unprepared for this major life change, he found himself in a state of deep introspection and struggling to connect with his creative\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e practice. Turning to his collection of old hard drives and found sounds captured years before, Logan found the inspiration he was looking for.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e“I felt compelled to make something new with what I had already made,” Logan says. “This technique…gave the project a specific sound that I was only able to create when I was younger, back in days that I do not remember. I would listen to those sounds I made in my childhood and, by themselves, they had an almost hypnotizing quality to them. I would envision what the track I wanted to make sounded like as well as what other elements it would need to fit this vision.”\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe end result is a 45-minute meditation on the nature of memory – Logan’s memory, the memory of others, the loss of memories, the creation of memories, and the painful nostalgia that memories can bring. How others remember you and how you might remember them. “Memory has no rule book and is only regulated by the speed and health of one’s brain,” Logan elaborates. “So, in the context of this record, each track is designed to sound like a distant memory. Initially conceived in 1969 as a collaborative vehicle for Clark and his childhood friend Robert Fuentes – whose early electronic recordings with homemade oscillators and electronic musical instruments served as a critical formative influence for the young man’s mind – this version of the project would sadly never come to pass, as Fuentes passed away in November 1970 under strange and tragic circumstances. The next month, however, Clark would begin recording his early explorations with one of Fuentes’ constructions.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eSoon,in the early seventies, a mutual friend named Greg Cain would join Clark in a shed behind his mother’s house, diving deeper into these sessions, exploiting homemade instruments, tape machines, and all manner of noise makers. The circle continued to\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e expand in the decades following, with pianist Lindall Cain and Keith Montgomery joining the fold, as well as lead guitarist Blackie Leopold, Jody Detton, and James Hatfield. It was Keith that came up with the name Onions and everyone in the group reversed their names. In the ‘90s, their ranks would expand again with the addition of August Smith’s arsenal of computer-based electronics, and guest performers Mike Kimbrough on keys, Danny Miracle on drums, and the artists Tom Boberg and Carli Scales.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTogether, in various configurations they would develop a system of playing with no leaders or rules. The players were able to explore their sonic terrain unrestrained by convention. Initially conceived in 1969 as a collaborative vehicle for Clark and his childhood friend Robert Fuentes – whose early electronic recordings with homemade oscillators and electronic musical instruments served as a critical formative influence for the young man’s mind – this version of the project would sadly never come to pass, as Fuentes passed away in November 1970 under strange and tragic circumstances. The next month, however, Clark would begin recording his early explorations with one of Fuentes’ constructions.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eSoon,in the early seventies, a mutual friend named Greg Cain would join Clark in a shed behind his mother’s house, diving deeper into these sessions, exploiting homemade instruments, tape machines, and all manner of noise makers. The circle continued to\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e expand in the decades following, with pianist Lindall Cain and Keith Montgomery joining the fold, as well as lead guitarist Blackie Leopold, Jody Detton, and James Hatfield. It was Keith that came up with the name Onions and everyone in the group reversed their names. In the ‘90s, their ranks would expand again with the addition of August Smith’s arsenal of computer-based electronics, and guest performers Mike Kimbrough on keys, Danny Miracle on drums, and the artists Tom Boberg and Carli Scales.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTogether, in various configurations they would develop a system of playing with no leaders or rules.
