"ANAN stands for the "A" of Roberto Agosta and the "N" of Massimo Napoli.
The two Catania-based DJs and producers from the Space Echo collective (see Agosta’s self-titled debut and his recent Remixes album, as well as Napoli’s releases under his alias Galathea) have long been pivotal figures in the Etna club scene. Since the late 1990s, they've been key players—among artists, crews, clubs, parties, and festivals—for fans and devotees of nightlife and electronic culture.

Room was born almost by accident—an organic result of exchanging ideas while both were immersed in their solo projects. The album reflects the distinct personalities of both artists: Napoli’s radiant, sunlit sensibility dances with Agosta’s darker, introspective tones, forming a truly original sound.

Deeply rooted in Black music, Room pulses with a strong sense of groove and a late-night mood of reflection. ANAN guide listeners through a dreamlike experience infused with the fragrances of jazz, the rhythms of funk, and rich references to Mother Africa, abstract hip hop, and house music—carried by psychedelic spacecrafts projecting never-before-seen films with imaginary soundtracks.

The album weaves together two decades of contemporary electronic music, reinterpreted through a uniquely personal lens—one that balances the arid mountains with the sea’s gentle touch, the fire of Mount Etna with the soul of the Mediterranean. Key collaborations with Salvo Dub (aka Go.Soul.Map, another core Space Echo artist) and The Invisible Session add further depth and nuance.

Room stands out for its aesthetic sensitivity and artistic maturity. Every musical idea—whether a sample, a single sound, or a fleeting suggestion—is meticulously layered to create complex, interlocking textures. Nothing feels obvious; instead, the album offers a rich melodic depth that hooks and mesmerizes.
