" Based in Liverpool, FEND - the solo project of Irish musician, DJ & producer Chrissy Connor[formerly of LONESAW] - is fast becoming recognised as a boundary-pushing artist within the realm of underground electronic music.

FEND presents his debut EP on Industrial Coast titled tIùr [from Irish gaelic, pronounced ‘urre’]. Written and recorded live at QUARRY, the EP draws from a wide range of influences - from IDM and dub techno, to harsh noise and Irish trad - thematically probing ancestral memories of a forgotten celtic past.

Opening track ‘An tIúr’ presents a paranoid malestrom propelled by FM synths and industrial percussion; an opener contrasted by ‘Aeffect’s playful experimental electronics.

On ‘Koyann’ - a collaboration with Welsh producer and DJ Lucy Grey [Majia, Dubs Club] - the pair deliver a dub techno rite with deep rolling bass underpinning Grey’s ethereal vocals.

‘Bóthar Raglan’ subverts Irish trad with distorted tape processing, paving the way for harsh noise meets 90s IDM closer ‘Fluid.’

On the release, the artist states, ‘I wanted to create something that felt authentic to
myself and my interests, hiding meaning within the electronic sounds that resonate with me.’"
