Artist statement by Looking Suite:

" This album was created with analog and digital synthesizers, guitars, and drum machines, all processed through a variety of pedals and effects.

The pieces were improvised and captured over the past year. The connecting aim was to evoke tranquility and relaxation, yet maintain a sense of perpetual motion, with melodies and textures introduced, altered, and developed throughout. Never still, but always centered.

Recorded in my home studio, this third album extends furthest beyond physical boundaries, drawing inspiration from Japanese ambient and minimal composers to the more space themed, expansive realms of Kosmische musik. It also incorporates field recordings, literally bringing the outside world into the studio for my first time."

My coworker said it was McCraven's \"Bitches Brew\" and went on about how Universal Beings had been inspired by the Miles Davis record, particularly producer Teo Macero's post-session editing work.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eI was really intrigued. I thought I knew Bitches Brew but I had no idea there were all these tape cuts everywhere and even some actual tape loops. All the starts and stops I assumed were part of the live sessions.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eAs I did some more reading I gradually got the idea to dig back into my vault of tape loops and put together an album based on edits and the sequencing of musical fragments, odds and ends.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe actual loops didn't exist in physical form any longer because of my habit of throwing out the tape and reusing the cassette shells over and over again with freshly spliced tape.
