"'R.F.I.' marks the first collaboration between London-based drummer Andy Baxter (Robohands) and LA-based multi-instrumentalist Jack Barone—a psychedelic exploration into the ancient scales of the Middle East, shaped by the textures of classic recordings and the pulse of the modern era.

The EP moves like a journey: beginning in stasis—stuck on a wall, locked in place—before slipping into the fluid motion of the desert, and finally dissolving into rest, as the final notes bend you into the ground.

Featuring guitar, bass, synth, and drums, R.F.I. is brought to life by a full analog palette—warm, saturated, and alive. Trumpeter Cesar Apolinar Hernandez and vocalist Alya Olcan lend their voices to tracks A1 and A2, adding new layers to the sonic terrain."

In this way it feels as if Unchained has always been music for living. Having left the bulk of his studio in storage, he traveled with only a small modular synthesizer and handheld digital recorder. Ritger often found himself working from single use patches – building up a soundworld and abandoning it once it was time to pack up shop and move to another locale.
