"バレンシア出身のシンセシストJuanvi Fortea aka Mínimは、変容を続けるスペインのエレクトロアコースティック・グループMecánica Clásicaでの活動と、現役の高校歴史教師という二つの経歴を活かし、沈み込んだような神聖幾何学を織り込んだ最新作『El Pes Del Món（「世界の重み」）』を生み出した。古代の辺境を結んだ古の交易路――香辛料や絹、商人、そして盗賊が往来した道――にまつわる伝承に触発され、本作の10曲は、通り過ぎるキャラバンからちらりと垣間見た情景のように展開していく。

モジュラー・リズム、シーケンサー回路、フィールドレコーディング、そして詩的なヴェイパー・ループが層を成して移り変わり、塵やロープ、風化した石が交錯する地図の中で、その音は濃密になり、やがて消えゆく。Forのミニマリズムは、間接的な物語とネガティブ・スペースを特徴とし、粒状感と映画的な要素を融合させてエキゾチックな時計仕掛けを生み出し、丘や靄の中を揺らめく線を辿りながら、まさに夜明けを迎えようとしている大航海時代に魅了されている。"

"Valencian synthesist Juanvi Fortea aka Mínim draws on his dual backgrounds in metamorphic Spanish electro-acoustic troupe Mecánica Clásica as well as active-duty high school history teacher for his latest suite of sunken, sacred geometries: El Pes Del Món (“The Weight of the World”). Inspired by the lore of ancient trade routes that bound the outskirts of antiquity – paths of spice, silk, merchants, and thieves – the album’s 10 tracks unspool like vignettes glimpsed from a passing caravan.

Shifting layers of modular rhythm, sequential circuits, field recordings, and poetic vapor loop and thicken and decay in crisscrossing maps of dust, rope, and eroded stone. Fortea’s minimalism is one of oblique narrative and negative space, fusing the granular and cinematic into an exotic clockwork, tracing swaying lines through hills and haze, in thrall to an age of discovery just beginning to dawn."

This is a record of rare and unusual beauty, so shocking and yet unpretentious in its simplicity. When the guitar does emerge from beside the delicately touched piano, it serves as a balancing point for the record. Weaving in and out of the melodies, it adds another layer to what is already incredibly moving music.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003e‘Corduroy Road’ is rooted in Kenniff’s love of folk music from the American Civil War. The story has clear themes; loss, history, friendship, camaraderie, forgiveness and hope, all clearly marked out by musical segments.
