"Full Spectrum Records welcomes Pablo Picco’s long-running Bardo Todol project into the fold with the release of ‘El Violín Dorado, El Violín Arabe.’

Recorded in Picco’s kitchen/studio located in the small hill-town of Salsipuedes, Central Argentina, the album took form as a slowly unspooling meditation on that which is the desert. Not necessarily in the most concrete of senses – though make no mistake, this is an immensely visceral trip – but perhaps ‘El Violin’ could be construed as a sort of spiritual exploration of the most unyielding environment on Earth: music that manifests as a pulsating entity whose dark, emerald green presence is hidden beneath the drifting sands, emanating tunnels of dry air that thrum in a primally familiar, yet still wholly alien, language.

The album itself sprawls across two sides, dubbed “El Violín Dorado [The Golden Violin]” and “El Violín Arabe [The Arab Violin]”, that present a swirling mélange of distorted violin drones, pillaged tapes of Arabic devotional music, scorched drums, and distended vinyl textures. This is potent stuff, delivering a perfect soundtrack to the waning days of summer’s reign."
