"One of my favorite musical experiences of 2020 was finding myself in touch via email with Melbourne’s Jim Sellars, whose Yunzero project, and the particular files he had sent, sounded like nothing I had heard prior. What became the “Blurry Ant” cassette (Lillerne #117) was a slab of found YouTube clips and cassette samples—repeatedely toyed with and manipulated until a maximum level of otherworldly, beautiful damage had been achived. From this stunning mass of sounds, truly and weirdly transcendent moments would appear. This time around, Sellars is in collaboration with Jordan Obarzanek’s Body Clock project on “Wall of Junk,” made with source material collected from two live jam sessions on synths, guitar, drum machine, bass and vocals. These recordings were then independently edited and again manipulated, re-manipulated and re-re-formed into the tracks herein. A sun-damaged dashboard cassette, liquified and recast into a swirl of distorted ambience and distant guitar. Haunting melodies collapse into deep moments of airy space and rhythmic bursts—a drippy, cave-like environment as canopy over everything. To me, Jim and Jordan are making some of the most interesting compositions I’ve heard in quite some time. Melted rock’n’roll jams for the modern world. Very excited for you to take a few listens."

Recorded at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn in December of 2021, this set has all the trappings of Bondy’s project of “warped tape indie rock sketches,” but presented in a remarkably more hifi and lush manner for a live performance. Deeply catchy pop moments buried under layers of chorusy guitar and simple drum patterns. Detouring at times into blissed out atmospherics, “floor” always returns to the catchy hook and an undeniable breakbeat. “rast,” which comes with maybe the biggest of both—is up there for song of the year in my mind. Timelessly beautiful stuff yet again from one of my favorites doing it right now. Recorded at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn in December of 2021, this set has all the trappings of Bondy’s project of “warped tape indie rock sketches,” but presented in a remarkably more hifi and lush manner for a live performance. Deeply catchy pop moments buried under layers of chorusy guitar and simple drum patterns. Detouring at times into blissed out atmospherics, “floor” always returns to the catchy hook and an undeniable breakbeat. “rast,” which comes with maybe the biggest of both—is up there for song of the year in my mind. Timelessly beautiful stuff yet again from one of my favorites doing it right now.
