On Winterglare, pianist and composer Volodja Brodsky captures that elusive atmosphere in a collection of intimate instrumental works that blur the line between composition, environment, and memory. The album’s opening piece, “Glare Prelude,” out today, introduces this philosophy immediately. Inspired by the rare brilliance of winter sunlight breaking through Estonia’s short, quiet days, it establishes the reflective tone that carries through the record, a meditation on stillness, impermanence, and the unexpected beauty found in ordinary moments.

While Winterglare draws from modern classical, ambient, and minimalist traditions, it resists easy categorization. Instead, it exists as an immersive listening experience, one shaped by careful observation and an appreciation for the subtle shifts of light, weather, and time.
