From the label:

"'Only Came To Say Goodbye' brings together two prolific multi-instrumentalists operating with most of the tools at their disposal: Taiwan-based Ryan J. Raffa, who brings a kaleidoscope of synths and other instruments to the album, and Chicago-raised Sam Prekop, who fleshes out its more percussive dimensions using his own range of mixed sonic implements. The result is cinematic and immersive, like a soundtrack or sonic epilogue to Mrs. Caliban by Rachel Ingalls, or a Philip K. Dick novel with a slightly more upbeat ending.

Recorded and mixed over the course of two years, 'Only Came To Say Goodbye' is a gravity-defying collaboration that shifts seamlessly from meteoric experiments, like "Tom Kick Brass Chords," to more bleary-eyed, noirish meditations, like "Waiting For the Light to Change." Though Raffa and Prekop had no specifics plans for their recordings, they still manage to build an atmosphere weighted by emotion and tinged with wonder, whimsy, and recollection. "Pitchshifter" is propulsive, with a bright suite of pulses and boops, while "Why Return" is steeped in the album's latent melancholy — a perfect summary of its unintentional themes of memory and moving forward."
