The duo draws on their diverse musical backgrounds in classical violin, opera, and sound experimentation to create a unique blend of acoustic atmospheric folk, ambient soundscapes, and epic long-form drone pieces. Winterwood’s music has featured a distinct combination of cinematic string arrangements, vocal harmonies, percussion, and layers of atmospheric acoustic and electric guitars. Along with a myriad of other works, Winterwood has composed and performed soundtracks for theatre, as well as creating, producing, and performing a commissioned opera for voice and electric guitar\"\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eArtist statement:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\"\u003cspan\u003e\u003cem\u003eCaelestis was created during a period of recordings which took inspiration from the formation of our sound bath project \"Winterwood Sound Immersions\". We founded \"WSI\" in late 2018 after feeling the need to both perform, as well as record sounds with the intention of holding relaxing spaces for other people. When listening, we can't help feeling that the two pieces represent both weightlessness, and grounding. Part 1 evokes the power of light, and levitation in various forms. The looped strings evoke a yearning, unresolved and resting just above the horizon, but never veering far above it. Part 2 is a densely layered excursion into the earth.
