"Trapped in Life is a 19 minute tape torture collage of visceral noise walls, abrasive atmospherics and hissing dead air ambiences from Misery//Pleasure. After terrorising scattered South London audiences with amplified five finger fillet knifeplay, Brachliegen is proud to present the project’s debut studio work. Created in reaction to feelings of existential urgency and chronic suffering, Trapped in Life explores the imperfections of the human condition and the compulsive re-experience of crisis ordinariness in day-to-day life.

Employing a petri-dish of prepared homemade string instruments, synthesisers, chimes and field recordings processed through death-metal-esque circuitry, Misery//Pleasure delivers 10 tracks of expressive dissonance that blur the boundaries between reality and deception. Trapped in Life embraces elements of failure, such as mic bumps, noise floors, bad tracking, feedback, and other sonic artefacts to construct broken rhythms and eerie harmonic tones. Pushed hard through a 4-track tape recorder, sound sources saturate into cycles of degeneration, worry and regressive obsession.

Misery//Pleasure draws influence from the thematic tilt of bands such as Dystopia, Disrupt, and Man Is the Bastard, dissecting their cadavers and feeding the entrails through a meat grinder of heavy processing. Calling to mind Nate Young’s Regression Series or early Controlled Bleeding, the result is a collection of sonic micro-traumas that attempt to come to terms with one’s purpose in the face of persistent dread. "
