Victor Negri // Sem TAPE

ブラジルの実験／フォーク作家Arubu Avuaが、2026年4月にドイツ・ベルリンの実験／ダンスレーベルStray Signalsからリリースした本名名義では初のアルバムです。

実験アンビエント・フォーク〜ストレンジビーツ〜ドローン8曲を収録。DLコード付属。 

以下、レーベルによる解説です。

"『Sem』は、Arubu Avuaとして10年にわたり音楽活動を続けてきたVictor Negriが、自身の名前でリリースする初のアルバムである。本作は、Stray Signals（ベルリン）とMutum（ポルトガル／ブラジル）の提携によりリリースされる。

2023年末から2025年初頭にかけて制作された本作は、重なり合う悲しみと移住という長期にわたる期間を内包しており、不規則なループで繰り返されるギターのレイヤーを基調に、サンプル、実験的なエレクトロニクス、フィールドレコーディングが織り交ぜられている。

ポルトガルのリスボンで始まり、ブラジルのカンピナスで完成した『Sem』（「なし」を意味する）は、新たな素材と過去数年間の未完成音源を並置することで、喪失と向き合うプロセスを形にした作品である。制作が進むにつれ、ネグリにとってのカタルシスは、編集作業と同様に、生の表現そのものにも見出されるようになった。こうしてこのアルバムは、前へ進むために、もはや存在しなくなった世界からの断片や記憶を接着しようとする象徴的な試みとなった。

収録された8曲の中には、徐々に展開していくものもあれば、ディストーションやフィードバックの中で崩れ落ちたり爆発したりするものもあり、また、次のステップが定まらないかのように立ち止まっているように見えるものもある。方向感覚の喪失と崩壊（「Voçoroca」）から、驚愕に満ちた苛立ち（「Não」）や、麻痺したような受容（「Obrigado」）へと至る荒削りな軌跡があり、その一方で、最終トラックである「Os cacos」と「Boa continuação」では、何らかの楽観にたどり着こうとしている。後者はポルトガル語でよく使われる別れの言葉であり、「良い続きを」という願いが込められている。

『Sem』は、ネグリにとってボーカルを一切含まない初のアルバムでもある。この決断は、その時期に曲作りを試みたものの実を結ばなかったことを経て、徐々に下されたものだ。最終的には、圧倒されるような感情と、ただただ言葉が出ないという状態が勝った。この言葉のないアプローチは、タイトルが示唆する「欠如」を強調する一方で、彷徨う余地を残し、新たなものの曖昧さを招き入れる。"

"Sem is the first album by Victor Negri under his own name, after a decade making music as Arubu Avua. It is released via Stray Signals (Berlin) in a partnership with Mutum (Portugal/Brazil).
The album, composed between late 2023 and early 2025, comprehending an extended period of compounded grief and relocation, is largely built upon layers of guitar in irregular loops, with samples, experimental electronics and field recordings.

Begun in Lisbon, Portugal, and finished in Campinas, Brazil, Sem (meaning “without”) is a process of dealing with loss, made by juxtaposing new material with unfinished recordings from previous years. As the process unfolded, the catharsis, for Negri, turned out to be as much in raw expression as in editing. The album then became a symbolic attempt to glue pieces and memories from a world that ceased to exist, in order to move forward.

Some of the eight tracks presented gradually unfold, while others crumble or explode in distortion and feedback, and some seem to stand still, as if unsure of the next steps. There is a rough trajectory from disorientation and collapse (“Voçoroca”) into astonished frustration (“Não”) or numb acceptance (“Obrigado”), all while attempting to land on some kind of optimism, on closing tracks “Os cacos” and “Boa continuação”, the latter a common Portuguese farewell, wishing for a “good continuation”.

Sem is also Negri’s first album to contain no vocals at all. The decision was gradual, after fruitless attempts at writing songs during that period; ultimately, overwhelm and plain speechlessness prevailed. This wordless approach, while reinforcing the lack suggested by the title, leaves room to wander and invites the ambiguity of the new. "
