I organize imagery using descriptive words, dates, names and location. For instance, I'll search " BROADWAY" or " BIRD " or "CROSSWALK". The groupings that emerge are always fascinating to me, the random connective threads sometimes disparate, tell a story a new story. These stories are about how we move within a cityscape, communicate, love, fight, dance and survive. The streets are like a canvas where a piece of wood in a trash can becomes a beautiful sculpture, where the rooftops are a spiritual respite from the streets — yet still part of the same pulse, the same club. The way we move through public space — walking, dancing, skating, or even fighting — has a distinct rhythm, a pace that belongs distinctly to NYC. been searching my archive to find that special shot I took 15, 20 years ago or even yesterday. The scene is predominantly composed of young adults and teens from diverse backgrounds and genders from all over the city who express a creative language and personal style through bike tricks—wheelies, swerving, dancing, and surfing. Gatherings happen regularly as ride-outs, where anywhere between 10 and 1500 bikers ride en mass, weaving through the city for anywhere between 10 and 35 miles while mesmerizing bystanders with a parade of stunts and choreographed and freestyle compositions. Bike Life's circulating message, "We're outside," speaks to a certain adjoining vibe—of freedom and positivity, staying true, celebrating, and lifting up each other's individual styles, not only on the bike but in their world that follows, in their being. Bike Life—it's the movement and tricks and being in the flow. It's the feeling of wind while you map the city. It's popping wheelies with your pack. In Bike Life, that bike is life."

レーベルその他作品はこちら /// Click here to see more Antenne releases available at Tobira.

Author : Brian Finke

Publisher : Blurring Books

Release date : 2026
"}

That dialogue is really the core of the record for me."

Throughout this tranquil album, we hear birds flying overhead and crickets in the nearby brush. We hear an outdoor world enjoying the riches of a bountiful garden. Wings soaring through the sky. Fluttering leaves. Field recordings of plenty; unknown sounds that might be creaking floorboards, folding paper, or turning gears on a bike.

Fittingly titled Two Places at Once, the ten song album was recorded distantly and remotely between these two creatives. Aiko Takahashi, based between Gorizia, Italy, and Nova Gorica, Slovenia, and Canadian sound artist Michael Scott Dawson, who resides in Vancouver. Given this worldwide lens, while most of the titles are in English, there are two songs with titles in Japanese (like the second track, which loosely translates to "Dark Hollow Blues") and there is a song with a title in French: the final track, "Toi Qui Sait," which loosely translates to "You Know Who." It is an international album, yes, but it's also a global album. A project communicating despite territorial divides, despite language barriers, because music is all that's needed to make a connection between two humans.

From start to finish, every note is a moment. Every sound is intentional. To listen to this album is to be present in the world. Hugging a loved one or making dinner after a difficult day. Opening your window as the sun begins to brighten. Feeling the beauty of a planet so full of wonder.

"For us," says Takahashi, "the record is really about coexistence: two voices present at once, supporting each other without competing. It’s not trying to make a statement or push boundaries, but to create a space people can return to, whether in the background or with closer attention."

Artist : Michael Scott Dawson & Aiko Takahashi

Label : We All Speak In Poems

cat no : WASIP-029

"}
