Kurokhtin’s sound world is indebted to playful library music, glitch, experimental drone and vintage house and techno, though we only catch glimpses of the latter scattered across Pyshma, its focus instead on dense layers of ambience and elements of dub. ‘Spok’ (A5) is a rare moment of intensity, with half-time, footwork tempo rhythms ricocheting off each other in a kind of organised chaos.
