But the symphonic symbiosis goes even deeper still. Each piece is based around an outdoor acoustic guitar improvisation, which was then re-recorded with accompaniment in a different time and mind space. On the first side this accompaniment takes the form of a circumambulatory walk around the site of original recording, with the piece itself played back through a handheld cassette recorder alongside the babbling, rushing and humming of the natural world.
