"Oscarson is proud to present Please Take Nothing But Memory, the latest full-length album from Yukon-based artist Dalton Alexander. While past releases have seen Alexander sketching lo-fi vignettes (2022’s Almost Home if I Disappear) or combining melody and dissonance to cacophonous swells (2023’s I Wonder How Many Are Still Alive), Please Take Nothing But Memory sees the artist wiping the slate clean and adopting a pared-down approach to his use of field recordings and electroacoustic instrumentation. The album is an ode to Alexander’s recently-sold childhood home, and is built upon a foundation of recordings made in the woods and streets enclosing it. The tracks are sequenced to create the effect of spending one full day, from early morning to late evening, in these surroundings - preserved now in a melancholic fever dream of 1990’s suburbia.

Alexander suffuses Please Take Nothing But Memory with subtle moments of tension amidst a mesmeric cocoon of synthesizer drones, acoustic guitar, and warbling chimes. It is the artist’s most purely ambient work to date, with each track naturally spilling into the next to create a cohesive whole that hearkens back to the fleeting midsummer days of youth. If you, too, were fortunate enough to be one of the 'neighbourhood kids', you will no doubt find comfort in the sounds of frogs, train horns, birds, passing cars, and street noise that fill in the cracks of this record."
