"Like a fractured reflection, images appear distorted and incomplete. A series of fragments revealing influences, methods, and decisions where life and work remain inseparable. Moving through the residual noise of contemporary media space, Christian Stadsgaard draws from social media remnants, dark web transmissions, and untreated human sound. These elements are processed through noise electronics and tape manipulation, collapsing source and signal.

’The Vanity Project’ is constructed as a dense, uneven surface. A collage of found sound, environmental interference, and emotional residue. In the extreme, these ideas coalesced in double albums where each side of each record is occupied by a single title - Yes’ ‘Tales From Topographic Oceans’, and Tangerine Dream’s ‘Zeit’ being primary examples. When I returned to making music after moving back to Northern California in 2020, the first piece I recorded landed around the 20-minute mark, and the idea of creating three other long pieces to realize a full album felt like a natural - if indulgent\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e - goal. And Cobb’s latest has a very specific genesis: a short poem, spontaneously created during a Zen Buddhist meditation retreat. This poem was an attempt to transcribe the experience of intensive zazen through a simple image of a chair tied to a faucet by a length of rope. For the composer, the memory of this inscrutable scene persisted long after the retreat itself; for eventual listeners, it serves as the origin of a probing album of tonal curiosity.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eThis record is an attempt to realize that image in sound – to articulate something of the mindstate of zazen through musical materials and processes.
