"『Empty Bliss』は、マルチディシプリナリー・アーティストであるサム・ホートンがOWAという別名義で送り出す新作だ。記憶に埋もれた、錆びつき、朽ち果て、蒸発していく幼少期の空間をパノラマ的に描き出し、ドローンの濃厚な層、脈打つようなアンダーグラウンド・ダブ、幽霊のようなグリッチのクリック音や静寂、歪んだサンプルを通じて、それらを想起させる。
ここに収められた5曲は、北部の若者たちの集合的無意識の記憶に形作られた、形成期の空間を再構築している。夕暮れの村々、ポストインダストリアルなスラグの山、公営住宅から、自然の想像力に揺さぶられる草原や森に至るまで――時間によって荒らされ、塗りつぶされたぼやけた記憶から音響的に構築されたこれらの空間を通じて、私たちは再び、人生のリズムや調和へと導いてくれた、奇妙な通路、啓示的な発見、切ない疑念、そして不確実性に出会うのだ。
純粋に見つめ、知るところを感覚的な手がかりとして伝える眼、すなわち精神を通じて、かつて社会経済的に繁栄した首都に残された散在する都市の断片の中で、進化と成長を司る私たちそれぞれのパターンの物語が語られる。それは、私たちが放り込まれた風景の克服、冷徹で容赦のない論理、反復と変化、つながりの模索、共同体の形成、不条理、そして受け入れるほかない状況によって課せられた変容を通じて表現される。"

"Empty Bliss bears a fresh offering from multi-disciplinary artist Sam Horton under the OWA alias, a panoramic survey of oblique rusting, decaying and evaporating childhood spaces drowned in memory, recalled in dense layers of drone, pulsating subterranean dub, in clicks and hushes of spectral glitch and warped samples.

The five cuts here recapture formative spaces, moulded in reminiscences of the collective subconscious of northern youth. From dusked villages, post-industrial slagheaps and council estates, to grasslands and forests stirred by the natural imagination, aurally constructed from blurred recollections savaged and smeared by time, we are met once again with the strange passageways, epiphanic discoveries, aching doubts and uncertainties which prepared us for the rhythm and tone of our lives.

From an eye, a spirit that sees purely and relays what it knows in sensory clues, the cinema of our personal patterns which govern evolution and coming-of-age among scattered urban fragments left in former capitals of socio-economic prosperity is told. Expressed through conquering of the landscape we have been thrown into, through cold and unforgiving logic, through repetition and change, in searching for connections, the forging of community, through absurdity, and the transformation imposed on us by our circumstances, which we have no option but to embrace."
