"Cloud Collectingからの初のソロアーティストによるフルアルバムとして、Marine Eyes名義での4枚目のソロアルバム『Hidden Hour』を公開できることを嬉しく思う。

『hidden hour』は、もし別の状況だったら見逃していたかもしれない瞬間に書き下ろされた。これらの曲の多くは、日の出や日没の静かな時間帯に生まれたもので、多くの場合、自宅から車で1時間以内の、これまで訪れたことのない場所を訪れた際に生まれたものだ。それは日常とは一線を画した空間をもたらし、私はこうした静寂に包まれた時間の中で、時間の流れがいつもとは違って感じられることに気づいた。全18曲、合計1時間にわたるこのアルバムは、そうした瞬間を留めておく手段となった。橋の下で、オークの木「ゴールデン・ドリーム」のそばで、グロッケンシュピールを手に。地元の州立公園の展望台で、フィールドレコーダーと日記帳を手に。ロス・パドレス国有林の山頂で、ピッコロ・ギターを手に一人きりで。私たちが大好きな山小屋で、ラップ・スチールを手に。ベンチュラの海岸沿いで、静かな瞑想の最中に。メンドシーノのレッドウッドの森にひっそりと佇む友人のティー・ハットで、そして他にも多くの魔法のような場所で。

『hidden hour』は、ペースを落とし、耳を澄まし、一口一口を味わい、手の届くところに存在する心豊かな時間を創り出すための招待状だ。その瞬間に意識を向けるかどうかは、私たち次第なのだ。

5年間にわたり、アンビエント・ミックスやクリエイティブなインタビューを通じて女性アーティストを紹介してきたが、この「cloud collecting」コミュニティをレーベルへと発展させることができたことに感謝している。去る3月、私は『エコーズ・ブルー』のアニタ・タトローと共にキュレーションしたコンピレーション『ジェントル・ヴォイセス』をリリースし、アンビエントやそれに隣接する領域で共に活動する女性たちを特集した。『hidden hour』では、私が深く尊敬する2人の女性アーティスト、オランダを拠点とするリオムとスウェーデンを拠点とするディミングを招き、楽曲制作でコラボレーションを行うことにインスピレーションを受けた。ぜひ彼女たちの音楽をもっと聴いてみてほしい。"

"for the first full-length solo artist release on cloud collecting, i’m happy to share my fourth solo album as marine eyes, hidden hour.

hidden hour was written during moments i might have otherwise missed. many of these songs were born in the quiet hours of sunrise and sunset, often while visiting places i had never been before within an hour drive from home. this provided a space outside of routine, and i found that time seemed to move differently in these carved hours of stillness. the eighteen songs, together running one hour long, became a way to preserve those moments. beneath a bridge next to the oak of the golden dream with a glockenspiel. at a local state park lookout with a field recorder and journal in hand. alone on a mountaintop in los padres national forest with a piccolo guitar. at a mountain cabin we dearly love with a lap steel. during a silent meditation along the shore in ventura. at a friend’s tea hut tucked away in the redwood forests of mendocino, and many other magical places.

hidden hour is an invitation to slow down, listen closely, savor each sip, and create nourishing time that is within our grasp, it is up to us to be present to it.

after 5 years of curating women of ambient mixes and creative interviews, i am grateful to have expanded the cloud collecting community into a label. this past march i shared the gentle voices compilation i curated alongside anita tatlow of echoes blue, highlighting women working together across ambient and ambient adjacent spaces. on hidden hour i was inspired to invite two women artists i deeply admire to collaborate on songs, netherlands-based líom and sweden-based dimming. i encourage you to listen to more of their music."
