"qorakitobchi（別名Anvar Kalandarov）は、ウズベキスタンのタシュケント出身の音楽考古学者、ミュージシャン、プロデューサーであり、その活動は中央アジア各地の忘れ去られた音を発掘することに捧げられている。近年、彼はこの地域の音楽的遺産を記録する唯一無二の存在として頭角を現しており、オスティナート・レコード（Ostinato Records）から『Synthesizing the Silk Roads: Uzbek Disco, Tajik Folktronica, Uyghur Rock & Tatar Jazz』を共同編集したほか、デス・イズ・ノット・ザ・エンド（Death Is Not The End）からリリースされたスプリット・アルバム『Digging Central Asia: Musical Archaeology Along the Silk Road』のキュレーションを手掛け、自身のレーベル「Maqom Soul」も運営している。

今回のミックステープで、Kalandarovは1980年代から1990年代にかけて中央アジア全域で隆盛を極めたシンセポップ、ディスコ、エレクトロニック・ミュージックに焦点を当てている。希少なビニール盤、個人アーカイブ、忘れ去られた録音から厳選されたこの選曲は、ソ連の近代性、地域の伝統、そして台頭しつつあったシンセサイザーの音が融合し、中央アジアならではの未来像を生み出した時代を探求するものだ。ウズベキスタンのディスコやタジキスタンのシンセポップから、あまり知られていない奇抜な楽曲に至るまで、このミックスは、地域外では依然としてほとんど未開拓の音楽の世界を垣間見せてくれる。"

"qorakitobchi aka Anvar Kalandarov is a music archaeologist, musician and producer from Tashkent, Uzbekistan whose work is dedicated to uncovering forgotten sounds from across Central Asia. In recent years he has emerged as a singular voice documenting the region’s musical heritage, co-compiling Synthesizing the Silk Roads: Uzbek Disco, Tajik Folktronica, Uyghur Rock & Tatar Jazz for Ostinato Records and curating Digging Central Asia: Musical Archaeology Along the Silk Road split release for Death Is Not The End, alongside presenting his own Maqom Soul imprint.

For this mixtape, Kalandarov turns his attention to the synth-pop, disco and electronic music that flourished across Central Asia during the 1980s and 1990s. Drawn from rare vinyl records, private archives and forgotten recordings, this selection explores a period when Soviet modernity, regional traditions and emerging synthesiser sounds merged to create a uniquely Central Asian vision of the future. From Uzbek disco and Tajik synth-pop to lesser-known oddities, the mix offers a glimpse into a musical world that remains largely unexplored outside the region. "
