アメリカ・テキサスのシンセ双子姉妹Synthfreqが、2023年5月に同国エレクトロニックレーベルOrange Milkからリリースしたデビューカセットです。

聴覚と視覚に重度の障がいを持つ彼女たちが、顕密な繋がりによって制作したシンセ・ファンク〜ニューエイジ・バラード12曲を収録。DLコード付属。 

以下、レーベルによる解説です。

"ダニエルとクリスタルはテキサス州オースティン出身の双子で、シンセフリークとして知られるこのデュオは、その極端な音楽的才能で悪名高い。聴覚と視覚に重度の障がいを持つ姉妹だが、2人の間にはユニークなコミュニケーションの形が生まれ、信じられないほど緊密な絆と、普通の人にはできない方法で音楽を感じる能力を示す音楽的な繋がりがある。

幼い頃から、双子はシンセに夢中だった。盲ろう者のコミュニティではよく知られている多くの技術的障害に直面しながらも、彼らは生涯をかけて技術を磨いてきた。シンセサイザーのメニュー構造を覚え、インターフェイスに点字を加え、専用のスクリーン・リーダーでマニュアルを拡大し......。

それぞれの音は、聴覚の範囲に合わせて音を聴き取りやすい周波数にピッチングする音楽プログラムをインストールすることで、補聴器で感じたり聴いたりできるように設計されている。

姉妹の物語は、計り知れない才能と勇気と忍耐の物語である。穏やかなニューエイジ・バラード、シンセ・ファンク、ダンス・ポップなど、彼女たちのユニークなプロセスと視点によって濾過された音楽を聴くことができる。このレコードは、姉妹の作曲と即興演奏を集めたもので、ほとんどが彼らのユーチューブ・チャンネルからリッピング、リマスターされたものだ。"

"The Morales twins, Danielle and Crystal, hail from Austin, Texas, where the duo, known as Synthfreq, are infamous for their extreme musical prowess. Although severely hearing and visually impaired, the sisters have developed a unique form of communication between them, a musical connection that exemplifies an incredibly tight bond and ability to feel music in a way that most people cannot.

Ever since they were young, the twins have been obsessed with synthesis. Though faced with many technological obstacles that are well known in the deaf and blind community, they have spent their lives honing their craft. Memorizing the menu architecture of their synthesizers, adding braille to the interface, enlarging manuals with specialized screen readers— at every turn, they thwart seemingly insurmountable roadblocks to creation.

Each sound is designed so that they can either feel or hear them with hearing aids via music program installed, which pitches sounds into audible frequencies for their range of hearing.

The sisters’ story is one of immense talent, courage, and perseverance. In spite of the many challenges they face, they continue to produce some of the most innovative and expansive music out there; we hear gentle new age ballads, synth funk, dance pop and more, all filtered through their unique process and perspective. This record is a collection of the sisters compositions and improvisations, mostly ripped and remastered from their youtube channel, and serves as a powerful reminder that anything is possible with enough passion and determination."
