風物詩のメンバーM. SageとLake May、Zander Raymond、andrew csも参加しています。

マスタリングはTaylor Deupreeが担当しています。

以下、作家本人による解説です。

"息子との生活は本当に楽しい。

今回のアルバムでは、恵みと感謝の瞬間を記録したり呼び起こしたりする音楽を作ろうという私の取り組みが、私たち二人の過ごす時間にさらに焦点を絞られた。そこからインスピレーションを得た結果、音楽は時に賑やかになり、時に物思いにふけるようなものになった。どれも内省的なものだ。ここには、文字通り私たちが遊んでいる様子が聞こえてくる瞬間もあるが、それ以上に、私は『今、こうして一緒にいられて本当に嬉しい』という気持ちを音楽で表現しようとしている。

作曲のプロセス（そして率直に言えば、私の人生）の通底にあるもう一つのテーマは、両親の死だ――一人は突然に、もう一人はゆっくりと、どちらも早すぎる死だった。彼らの視点や導きがなくなったことは、私の日常生活や息子との関係に深く影響している。これは確かに音楽の中に避けがたく現れているが、その存在自体もまた、ある種の捧げ物なのだ。

これほど個人的なアルバムを作るには、実はコラボレーションが必要だと早い段階で気づいた。M. Sage、Lake Mary、Zander Raymondの3人が参加を快諾してくれたことは、私にとって大きな励みになった。さらに、5曲目は実はすべてandrew csによるもので、私がその作品を深く尊敬する人物からの、間奏的な「ポストカード」のようなものだ。

“Life with my son is real fun.

For this album, my efforts to make music that documents or evokes moments of grace and gratitude focused more tightly on our time together. In finding inspiration there, the music sometimes became busier, sometimes more pensive. It’s all reflective. There are moments here when you can literally hear us at play, but more often I’m trying to musically articulate the feeling of ‘I’m so glad we’re doing this, right now, together.’

A throughline of the compositional process (and, frankly, of my life) is also the passing of my parents—one suddenly, one slowly, both too early. The absence of their perspective and guidance informs my daily life and relationship with my son. This is unavoidably present in the music, to be sure, but its presence is also a kind of offering.

I realized early on that an album this personal actually required collaboration; M. Sage, Lake Mary, and Zander Raymond all agreeing to contribute really buoyed me. On top of that, track five is actually all andrew cs—an interludinal “postcard” from someone whose work I so admire.
