ポルトガルの実験音楽家ClothildeとJoão Hã?が、2024年6月に同国リスボンの実験レーベルHoluzamから70本限定でリリースしたスプリットカセットです。

以下、レーベルによる解説です。

"この2枚のアルバムが一緒になったのは自然な成り行きだった。両者とも実質的に異なる地域や意図から生まれたものだが、ある種の共通の音の領域が姿を現し、共通の生息地となった。制作方法に関する自発性、倫理観や創造的刺激としての実験、根底にある変容への欲求が共通している。磨いたり飾ったりするのではなく、むしろ直感を尊重した芸術的な言説を実現したいのだ。2人のアーティスト（ClothildeとJoão Hã?)は、電子機器へのアプローチに熟練し、差別化を図っている。

"Downhill Vignettes "は、Clothildeが次のアルバム（2024年後半にリリース予定）の作曲に至るまで、長く親密なリサーチ、精神化、集中力を高めている間に、ごくさりげなく姿を現した。「過去のアルバムを聴くことから始めて、ジャム、レコーディング、リハーサル、そして何が起こったかを理解するためにライブを聴く必要性を感じた。」このテープで彼女の側面を聴くとき、私たちは実際、アーティストを完成した芸術作品へと導く運命にあるテストとアイデアの形で、より良い旅の段階を目撃している。彼女は、録音された主に未発表の音源の大部分を厳しく見直し、何時間もの中から重要な瞬間を選んだ。

これらの作品を集めているうちに、ここにも完成された芸術作品があることに気づかされた。9曲の中に見出される厳かな美しさは、真剣さと献身を示し、有機的であると同時に合成的な別世界の雰囲気を呼び起こす。簡潔な物語には（頻繁に）オープンエンディングがあり、もし私たちが音に没頭し、これらの物語をすでに確立された集団と同居させたいと望むなら、それは無関心である。オープンエンディングは、私たちの心の中でフォローアップされる。アクセスを許可された禁断の惑星である。

João Hãは、彼のメインプロジェクトであるCalhau!とは異なるアプローチである。"Quadrúpede Ergue-se Bípede De Gatas "に至る経緯は、ミキシングの最終段階まで数年に渡って散らばっているため、時系列で厳密に説明することは不可能だ。スケジュールや時間枠を迂回することは、自由を表現するもうひとつの方法、すなわちレコーディング方法の多様性と呼応する。デジタルレコーダー、ディクタフォン、携帯電話、スマートフォン、テープレコーダー（マイクロカセットも）。彼は、その多様性を前提として（ほとんど計画していると言ってもいい）、後に異なる結果に創造的に対処できるようにしているのだ。

それらは可能な限り生々しく保たれ、パーツが組み合わされている。「何らかの理由で固まりにくいもの、かろうじて認識できる形、今の状態をうまく保てないものの感覚を伝えるために。(固まらない柔らかい音楽"。この柔らかさは、2021年にJon Von Calàt名義で出版された "plotfold "の全文を読む "Olá Pesadelo "の言葉を通しても私たちに届く。

エレクトロニックミュージックやミュージックコンクレートの草創期まで遡れば、音を得るために使用されるオブジェクトを明確に参照することができるが、『QEBDG』の音楽は現在に存在し、液体の形で固定され（ナンセンスに聞こえるかもしれないが）、流れる準備ができていて、聴く人をなだめることができる。 "

Holuzam:

"The coming together of these two albums happened naturally. Although both stem from substantially different areas and intentions, a kind of common sonic territory revealed itself, a common habitat. They share a similar spontaneity regarding production methods, experimentation as ethics and creative stimulus, an underlying desire for transformation. Not wanting to polish or embellish, rather to achieve an artistic discourse respectful of intuition. We speak of two artists (Clothilde and João Hã?) whose approach to electronic equipment is well seasoned and differentiated, they are owners of individual visions and sources of aesthetical statements with a rightful place in the contemporary world.

"Downhill Vignettes" manifested itself quite casually during Clothilde's long and intimate research, mentalization and focus leading to the composition of her next album (to be released later in 2024): "I started by listening to previous albums and then I felt the need to listen to jams, recordings, rehearsals and even gigs in order to understand what had happened." When listening to her side on this tape, we are in fact witnessing phases of a betterment journey in the form of tests and ideas destined to carry the artist into a finished work of art. She rigorously reviewed the bulk of her recorded and mainly unreleased material and chose key moments out of many hours.

Having collected these pieces, there came the illumination that here, also, is a finished work of art. The austere beauty found in the 9 tracks reveals seriousness and commitment, it evokes an otherworldly atmosphere as much synthetic as organic. Concise narratives with (frequent) open endings, which are indifferent if we immerse ourselves in the sound, if we wish to co-inhabit these stories with their already established population. Open endings are then followed up within our minds. A Forbidden Planet with granted access.

João Hã? comes disconnected from his main project Calhau! (with Marta Ângela). It is impossible to attribute a rigid timeline to the proceedings that led up to "Quadrúpede Ergue-se Bípede De Gatas", as they are scattered throughout several years up until the final mixing stage. That bypassing of schedules and time frames echoes one other expression of freedom: the variety of recording methods. The artist enumerates "digital recorders, dictaphone, cellphone, smartphone, tape recorder (also microcassettes)". He assumes (we could almost say plans) the diversity so he can later deal creatively with the different results.

Those are kept as raw as possible, parts are combined "to convey the sensation of something that for some reason experiences a difficulty in becoming solid, a barely recognizable shape, something that can't really hold its current state properly. (...) A soft music that is unable to harden." This softness also reaches us via the words in "Olá Pesadelo", where the artist reads the full "plotfold" book he published in 2021 under the name Jon Von Calàt.

We can go back as far as the pioneering years of electronic music or musique concrète explicitly referencing objects used to obtain sound, but the music in "QEBDG" exists in the present, fixed in liquid form (this sounds nonsense), ready to flow and available to lull whoever is listening, like a cable car loop with passengers stepping in and out in permanent rotation. "
