20世紀後半アイスランドのフルクサス重要作家Magnús Pálssonが、2022年2月に同国Mumbling Eyeから200部限定でリリースしたCD付き美術本です。40ページのハードカバー本。作家のサインとナンバリング入り。以下、レーベルによる解説です。

Gapassipi（1995年）は、レイキャビク中心部のティヨルニン湖に面した、当時建設されたばかりのレイキャビク市庁舎に設置された作品です。2月25日から3月10日まで展示されたこの作品は、北欧閣僚会議の開催に合わせて、北欧視覚芸術協会アイスランド支部がMagnús Pálssonに依頼したものです。Gapassipiのインスタレーションは、湖と同じ高さの床に、割れたガラスを30平方メートルの三角形に敷き詰め、8台のスピーカーを配置し、Pálssonが事前に録音した2つのボーカルトラックを発振させたものです。最初のトラックは、Pálssonがティオルニンにまつわる思い出を語るものです。もう1曲は、Pálssonいわく「湖のガチョウに訴えかける」ゆるやかな詠唱である。グレイラグ・グースは、毎年ヨルニンにやってくる鳥の一種で、市庁舎の床に貼られた三角形のガラスの配列が、そのV字型の移動パターンを連想させます。

Gapassipiの最大の特徴は、2つのテキストが通常のアイスランド語ではなく、アイスランドの子供たちが大人の理解を避けるために話す秘密の言葉である口語の「P言語」で書かれ、記録されたことです。

"Gapassipi (1995) was installed in the then-recently constructed Reykjavik City Hall, which is situated on the lake Tjörnin in central Reykjavik. Exhibited from February 25th - March 10th, the work was commissioned from Pálsson by the Icelandic branch of the Nordic Visual Arts Association to coincide with a meeting of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The Gapassipi installation featured a 30-sq. meter, triangular formation of broken glass laid upon the floor, level with the lake, as well as eight loudspeakers positioned throughout the space, emanating two vocal tracks pre-recorded by Pálsson. The first track consisted of Pálsson reciting vignettes from his memories surrounding Tjörnin. The second comprised, in Pálsson’s words, a loosely chanted “appeal to the gander of the lake.” The gander in question, the Greylag Goose, is one of several bird species that frequent Tjörnin yearly, and whose V-shaped migration pattern was evoked by the triangular array of glass upon the floor of the City Hall.

The most distinguishing attribute of Gapassipi is that both texts were written and recorded by Pálsson not in regular Icelandic, but rather the colloquial “P-Language,” a secret language spoken between Icelandic children in efforts to avoid adult comprehension. "

His long-standing performance practice for piano, portative organ, synthesizers, and electroacoustic devices, is constantly infused with a delicacy of touch and a harmonic sensibility in which unorthodox tunings coexist with influences from fin de siècle Impressionism, the twentieth century avant-garde, and popular musical structures. On the flip side, “Quire” is a work in ten movements influenced by the composer’s study of late medieval repertoire on portative organ, weaving the instrument’s woodsy interlocking melodies with angelic Yamaha CS-80 synth sweeps and stuttering glitches.
