This Various artist release includes the works of several artists involved in the label till now, along with some very familiar faces to π that have been supporting the parties in the past years. The aim was to bring the main label roster - artists with original music on PI, such as JK Flesh, Ontal and Damcase - under the same roof as artists that have been with the Pi Electronics project since its early days: the label’s party residents; 3.14, Nemmett and DΛS along with other fellow Athenians; Unhuman, BMSK and the project “I am Legion, for we are many.” The outcome will be available in CD, Vinyl and Digital format, while the vinyl sampler will feature JK Flesh, Ontal, Nemmett and BMSK."

It’s with great pleasure to finally release a full length solo album of his work on Recital. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eCalendar is a collection of unfinished demos, compositional experiments, and edited re-released tracks which span the past 8 years. Recital operator and composer Sean McCann took 7+ hours of Paul’s music and edited it down to these 8 tracks over 50 minutes, folding them into themselves and into one another. The editing is also sometimes crude and immediate, with creases and torn edges. Zach said, “I’ve struggled to release music since 2020 and the process of crafting this album with Sean has taught me that perfection is often my greatest obstacle. The process of overworking ‘works in progress’ led to stagnation.” \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis album reflects trying to break one’s perception of time into its smallest parts, watching the seconds pass, and freezing these snapshots into saturated memories and moods. Zach explains, “when I listen to each piece on this album, I’m flooded with memories of the particular time and place it was recorded, and the people around me in that period of my life,” and he encourages the listener to craft their own story from these pieces and their dates. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e“Wind of midnight” is a pastoral quartet piece (two horns, cello, and violin) that breathes slowly, not unlike an Ingram Marshall work. While “Fear” conjures up memories of Los Angeles at night, an imagined soundtrack for a hazy Michael Mann-ish cobalt landscape. A gust of smog on \"Possessor\" interrupts this vaporous scene, getting swallowed up in tape destruction, then settling back into the underlying pastel dusk of Calendar's unhurried chamber ambience. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOn a personal note, in addition to his violin contributions for the label, Zach was actually the one-and-only Recital “intern” for a few months in 2015. Not having much for him to do (other than assist in frantically emailing members of The Lost Jockey in hopes of reissuing their material,) we quickly became friends and would just hang out and listen to music. It’s with great pleasure to finally release a full length solo album of his work on Recital. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eCalendar is a collection of unfinished demos, compositional experiments, and edited re-released tracks which span the past 8 years. Recital operator and composer Sean McCann took 7+ hours of Paul’s music and edited it down to these 8 tracks over 50 minutes, folding them into themselves and into one another. The editing is also sometimes crude and immediate, with creases and torn edges. Zach said, “I’ve struggled to release music since 2020 and the process of crafting this album with Sean has taught me that perfection is often my greatest obstacle. The process of overworking ‘works in progress’ led to stagnation.” \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis album reflects trying to break one’s perception of time into its smallest parts, watching the seconds pass, and freezing these snapshots into saturated memories and moods. Zach explains, “when I listen to each piece on this album, I’m flooded with memories of the particular time and place it was recorded, and the people around me in that period of my life,” and he encourages the listener to craft their own story from these pieces and their dates. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e“Wind of midnight” is a pastoral quartet piece (two horns, cello, and violin) that breathes slowly, not unlike an Ingram Marshall work. While “Fear” conjures up memories of Los Angeles at night, an imagined soundtrack for a hazy Michael Mann-ish cobalt landscape. A gust of smog on \"Possessor\" interrupts this vaporous scene, getting swallowed up in tape destruction, then settling back into the underlying pastel dusk of Calendar's unhurried chamber ambience. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOn a personal note, in addition to his violin contributions for the label, Zach was actually the one-and-only Recital “intern” for a few months in 2015. Not having much for him to do (other than assist in frantically emailing members of The Lost Jockey in hopes of reissuing their material,) we quickly became friends and would just hang out and listen to music. These bulletins would emerge while walking in the streets, waiting for someone in a bar, going back home in the tube, working on something manually repetitively, walking on a hill in a rush or just being in bed in the evening and letting thoughts deploy. I often ‘used’ these tracks to flirt with voices I liked, sending my recordings to my muses or lovers. I intentionally created situations of extreme tension and desire that would trigger onomatopoeias. These tracks were made for voices I wanted to touch rather than bodies. I love to just wander through a metropolis and listen to sounds around me\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e, experiencing this sort of perennial concert. What makes me click with a place is its soundscape, in the same way I’m more attracted to a voice rather than a body. I remember taking days off just to walk and hunt for voices. Sometimes I would walk for hours without eating, guided by a specific cacophony I was drawn to or by an overheard conversation. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOf the 16 tracks that make up this album, some were written and then performed, others just appeared, triggered by something around me and I recorded them with my phone (intentionally merging with the context that inspired them). As much as I’m fond of crystal clear recordings, which give space and transform the voice into space, I’m extremely attracted by overlaps and mismatches between voices. I don’t know how this obsession started. I have always had a special connection with my voice, I used to talk out loud to a lot of imaginary friends and loved to sing in the school choir. I hardly listen to lyrics just like I have a hard time looking at movies without subtitles as I automatically transform the voice into sound and can’t follow the plot. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSolo Voce is an album, or composition of compositions, or composition of the desirerer’s desires in which voice is the solo instrument. Solo Voce, Vittoria’s first album, carries a certain arousal and intimate elation, a kind of sensual communiqué absent from much contemporary music. As Vittoria divulges: \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003e“The recordings were born out of fantasizing and desire. These bursts of fantasy were translated into words that then in their turn became rhythm and sound, producing a nectar of non-semantic vocalizings. These bulletins would emerge while walking in the streets, waiting for someone in a bar, going back home in the tube, working on something manually repetitively, walking on a hill in a rush or just being in bed in the evening and letting thoughts deploy. I often ‘used’ these tracks to flirt with voices I liked, sending my recordings to my muses or lovers. I intentionally created situations of extreme tension and desire that would trigger onomatopoeias. These tracks were made for voices I wanted to touch rather than bodies. Voice, for me, is the uttermost source of fantasy and the erotic. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eCities have been another tonica of the album. I love to just wander through a metropolis and listen to sounds around me\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e, experiencing this sort of perennial concert. What makes me click with a place is its soundscape, in the same way I’m more attracted to a voice rather than a body. I remember taking days off just to walk and hunt for voices. Sometimes I would walk for hours without eating, guided by a specific cacophony I was drawn to or by an overheard conversation. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOf the 16 tracks that make up this album, some were written and then performed, others just appeared, triggered by something around me and I recorded them with my phone (intentionally merging with the context that inspired them). As much as I’m fond of crystal clear recordings, which give space and transform the voice into space, I’m extremely attracted by overlaps and mismatches between voices. I don’t know how this obsession started. I have always had a special connection with my voice, I used to talk out loud to a lot of imaginary friends and loved to sing in the school choir. I hardly listen to lyrics just like I have a hard time looking at movies without subtitles as I automatically transform the voice into sound and can’t follow the plot. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSolo Voce is an album, or composition of compositions, or composition of the desirerer’s desires in which voice is the solo instrument. It deeply excites me to think I can do everything with my voice just by repeating, looping, overdubbing, collaging.
