Description by Still Return:

"Influenced by immersion as a kid in the sounds of 90s sci-fi/fantasy soundtracks, my parents' New Age music cassettes, and the ubiquity of the DX-7 and D-50 synths, "The Killing Sun" metabolizes that audio (and visual) DNA into a deeply personal and counter-New Age portrait.
With this album I wanted to create a grammar from those sound-memories, detached from their popular referent and reconfigured to a minor language of my own experience: to twist sounds that have been associated with lightness and, often, a shallow positivity and turn them to express something contrasting and dark, more akin to how I experienced life soundtracked by them.
Maybe one of the ways to break free is to utilize the sounds of the oppressor to make a new song.

Begun in 2015 with a rough piano sketch for "Come In" (track 1), this album is the culmination of years of earnestly seeking something personal. After putting my band Home Video on indefinite pause, this is the first album I've made with singing and lyrics."
