'This is the first installment in a series of soundscape recordings from Buddhist temples in Thailand.
Phra Maha Chedi Tripob Trimongkol, also known as the Stainless Pagoda, is a unique buddhist temple located on the hill, in the far south of Thailand, near Hat Yai city in the Songkhla province. The temple is made of chrome tubes and decorated with thousands of small bells - a real oddity for a traveler from Europe, but also a perfect field recording spot.
The first track was recorded in December 2022 during our second visit in Steinless Pagoda and the second one in February 2024."

I have little doubt that what we recorded previously reflects a significant portion of the island’s forest soundscape, at least during the dry season. On the other hand, I am also certain there are places on Tarutao that would yet surprise us with entirely distinct sonic environments—sometimes fleeting and highly specific, dependent on the time of day and precise location, like two tall rocks where waves reverberate only at high tide, or hidden creeks and waterfalls.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eUntil now, one such hidden environment has been the mangrove forests. These are places where the boundary between sea and land begins to blur, and where the soundscape softens compared to the lively inland forests. This album presents a selection from nearly 100 hours of recordings made in December 2025 and January 2026 within one such forest in the northern part of Tarutao. ポーランド・ワルシャワのフィールドレコーディング作家Mirt とTerが、2026年4月に自身ら主宰フィールドレコーディング専門レーベルsaamlengからリリースしたCDです。 タイ・タルタオ島のマングローブ林でのフィールドレコーディング6曲を収録。6面デジスリーブ、シュリンク仕様です。 以下、レーベルによる解説です。 "タルタオ島の地図を見ると、私たちが実際に探索した範囲がいかに狭かったかがよくわかる。アオ・パンテ・マルカからアオ・タロ・ワオへと続く道を何度も往復したが、その道は最終的に鬱蒼とした森の中に消えていく。しかし、この区間は島の全長のごく3分の1に過ぎない。少なくとも乾季においては、私たちが以前に録音したものが、島の森林のサウンドスケープの大部分を反映していることに疑いの余地はない。一方で、タルタオ島には、まったく異なる音響環境によって私たちを驚かせてくれる場所がまだあると確信している。それは時に、一日の時間帯や正確な位置に依存して、はかなくも極めて特異なものである。例えば、満潮時にのみ波の反響が聞こえる2つの高い岩や、隠れた小川や滝などだ。 これまで、そのような隠れた環境の一つがマングローブ林であった。そこは海と陸の境界が曖昧になり始め、活気ある内陸の森林に比べ、サウンドスケープが穏やかになる場所だ。微細でありながらはっきりと感知できる潮の満ち引きが、昼と夜を分けるように明確に時間を区切る、決定的な音の指標となる。このアルバムは、2025年12月から2026年1月にかけて、タルタオ島北部のそのような森林の一つで収録された、約100時間に及ぶ録音の中から選りすぐった音源を収録している。素材は、私たちが直接立ち会うことなく、4日間にわたり複数の場所で連続録音を行ったドロップリグを用いて収録された。 以前のセッションではコンクリートの道路が内陸の森林への限られたアクセスを可能にしたが、ここでも私たちは分岐する河川沿いを進み、水浸しで不安定な沼地に沈んだ、もろい根が密に張り巡らされた、はるかに均一な地形へと、同様に部分的な進入を果たした。 マングローブは私たちにとって初めてのものではなかったが、以前の遭遇――短いカヤックでの小旅行――では、その表面をかすめたに過ぎなかった。今回は、有望な場所を探して水上で長い時間を費やし、以前よりもさらに奥深くへと進み、倒木を避けながら進み、潮の満ち引きと競い合い、動物たちが定期的に戻ってくる場所を特定しようと試みた。 島の北端は狭く、音響的な遮蔽となるものがほとんどないため、マングローブ林は通り過ぎる漁船の音にさらされている。滞在中は船の往来が異常に多いように感じられたが、年末年始にかけては大幅に減少し、人為的な騒音のない長い音響の断片を収録することができた。 録音された素材の多くは、比較的均一な音響風景を映し出している。ここに収録した選曲では、より特徴的な瞬間を強調している。満潮時に沼地を埋め尽くす絶え間ない水の流れの音、そして水が引くにつれて空間を取り戻していく空気の音。また、絶え間ない合唱の一部というよりは、むしろソリストとして現れる鳥やヤモリの鳴き声も含まれている。海風による突風が支配的な長い断片は、微細な音のディテールを覆い隠してしまう傾向があったため、除外した。" レーベルその他作品はこちら /// Click here...
