Outside, the abrasive silence of the forest. The sun still glowed the surrounding universe in which the next hours would pass: a wooden wall where the hammocks were placed, a simple wooden house (the big house) without any door or windows (just a hole in the front, just the minimum to get inside). The floor of it was at least one and half metres below the ground. There was no other entrances, no windows, no beds. The Shawis slept on those hard wooden floors.

Rafael talked very briefly about the brain connections that will light up when the effect of “La Purga” is happening. He identified three states during the trip. The state of dizziness, the direct effect of drinking the “purga” (ayahuasca drink). The idea here was to wait for the plant to arrive and welcome it. In this nausea state you would have to not to try to vomit all the drink, cause the plant has to get inside your system.
The second part was about hallucinations: different entities, figures, symbols and colours. Rafael tried to convince that those visions are part of the realm of the plant. He told us not to be scared and continue searching for the path to the questions we would like to ask.
The last part is the vision. A real image of what we search for. He remarked that we have to ask for specific things, concrete answers and not to be distracted.

He later, inside the wooden house, showed the liquid they were about to ingest. There was this big “choza” which from inside came out more than a dozen of children. Then the adults came all dressed with football shirts. All of them were from 30 to 40 years old. They were short, but brawny. For some reason I can see that their faces showed eld and tiredness. Maybe this place of agony and death, life and renaissance produced some effect in their bodies. Even Though they talk in their original language and laugh.

Mud was covering all the floor of the hut. The beds were like a metre or a metre and a half from the floor, maybe to avoid the water in flood seasons and animals that might jump into their dream nights. A giant ass of a porno model women poster was humbly hanging in one of the precarious wall made of cane. In this mane room, women-mothers from the community laid hidden, almost invisible. Of them looked down, in a very shy manner.

…. The final hours of the day.

There was only one light bulb illuminating the humid and dark place.

A dark, slimy thing, that seemed very “concentrated”. The best combination of it all. The precise dose of Ayahuasca plant with the precise dose of Yakruna bush. ...
