"By never learning to properly write music you can express more clearly what you find important in an illiteracy. In a dream you can’t send a text message, but you can watch someone open a bottle of seltzer water with a hiss. That’s as real as it gets, standing in a living room with Phil, in this instance, and it is black cherry flavored and it nearly bubbles over. He makes this moment and room important and the story happens in this room because of the bottle opening. The bottle is a sculpture, the uncapping is an expression of music. Bossa nova is beautiful in any temperature. Sometimes a Stan Getz record has a blue album cover, but it may not mean winter. It almost certainly does, but there is a possibility. Why try to tell time when you can slow the record to a near halt and see if it still makes a peep? How far can you stretch the racket of thistle and a chair moving in a studio in Rio? Is one note samba still a samba when the note is infinite? - Chaperone"
