フィンランドのコラージュ作家Målgruppが、2025年4月に同国実験レーベルArtsyとIkuisuusからリリースしたカセットです。

フィールドレコーディングやオープンリールを用いたLo-Fiコンクレート13曲を収録。DLコード付属。

"målgrupp（「ターゲット・グループ」）は、2008年頃に実験的なDIYソロ活動としてスタートした。グループとしてCDとスプリット・アルバムをリリースした後、2013年に再びソロ・プロジェクトとなった。最新作『Sorl』では、ナグラのオープンリールテープレコーダーに、オブジェ、フィールドレコーディング、楽器が録音され、スティックやピックを使い、テープヘッドから磁気媒体を持ち上げたり覆ったり、巻き戻したり、早送りしたり、ワウやフラッター、ヒスやクリックなどの激しい処理を経てリレーされる。

アーティストのスタジオやツアー中のライブで録音された、存在しない映画のサウンドトラックが聞こえてくる。ビニール袋に薪をくべたり、駅構内に立ってアナウンスを聞き取ったり、縦長の住宅街で階段を上りながらその土地の雰囲気を感じたり、メンテナンスの機械がズームしていくのを見たり、テレビで自然番組を見たり......。音楽はテクスチャーを強調した楽観的なもので、落ち着きのない神経がありながら、心をなごませてくれる。"

"målgrupp ('target group') started as an experimental DIY solo act sometime around 2008. After releasing a cd and a split album as a group, they became a solo project again in 2013. On their latest release, Sorl, objects, field recordings, and musical instruments are recorded and relayed through heavy treatments on a Nagra reel-to-reel tape recorder; with the help of sticks and picks, lifting and covering up the magnetic medium from the tape heads, rewinding, fast-forward, wow and flutter, hiss and clicks.

Recorded in the artists' studio or live on tour, the soundtrack of a non-existent film is heard - a naïve experience, never accurate in its reproduction. We'll find ourselves collecting fire-wood in a plastic bag or standing on the station decrypting announcements, climbing the stairs in a vertical neighborhood taking in the local moods, watching a maintenance machine zooming by or the nature program on television. The music is optimistic with an emphasis on textures; there is a restless nerve, yet soothing.

målgrupp has released several cassettes and a 7" EP through labels such as Artsy Records, Hockey Rawk, Allt Hela Tiden, Maternal Voice, På Månen and Flacon Recordings. They have also scored films for Kevin Luna and Peter Larsson, made fanzines, short films, exhibited artwork, installations and hosted workshops.

Sorl is a transatlantic co-release between Spleencoffin, Artsy Records and Ikuisuus. Tapes dubbed and covers screen printed by hand on heavy duty watercolor paper at Spleencoffin HQ."
