ダンスにもリスニングにも順応するアンビエント・テクノ〜アンビエント・ダブ〜ダウンテンポ〜IDM15曲を収録。デジスリーブ、シュリンク仕様です。

"ダンスミュージックの曖昧な境界線の中で、微妙な変化が起きている。基準の緩み、見せかけの解放。クラブと寝室の境界線が霧のように溶け合い、それぞれの最も豊かな要素が互いに溶け合う――文字通りの空間でもあり、形而上学的な空間でもある場所への、集団的な憧れだ。ダンスフロアには家庭のような安心感と確かな居心地が、家庭にはダンスフロアが持つ超越的な可能性がすべて備わっている。

こうした不確定な空間のぼやけた輪郭は、過去10年の大半にわたってゆっくりと台頭してきたサウンドの中に垣間見ることができる。そのサウンドは、霧のように様々な影響を集め、それらを新たに凝縮された形へと彫り上げているのだ。アンビエント、ダブ、ダウンテンポ、トリップホップの痕跡、そしてアフターアワーズ・テクノの幽玄な輪郭が、形のない渦を巻きながら、明確な定義の欠如こそが最大の特徴となる何かに変容し、残酷な境界や鋭いエッジに支配されがちな世界に対抗する、開放性と柔軟性の精神によって結ばれている。

"A subtle shift is taking place within the blurred margins of dance music. A loosening of criteria, a releasing of pretence. A collective yearning for spaces both literal and metaphysical where the lines between club and bedroom can dissolve into mist, where the most nourishing elements of each can bleed into the other; dance floor with the safety and assurance of home, home with all of the transcendent potential of the dance floor.

The blurred outlines of these indeterminate spaces can be glimpsed in a sound that has been slowly emerging for the better part of the last decade, one that gathers its influences like fog and sculpts them into newly concentrated forms. Traces of ambient, dub, downtempo, trip hop and the spectral outlines of after hours techno, swirling amorphously into something most defined by its distinct absence of clear definition, and united by a spirit of openness and malleability in opposition to a world so often occupied by cruel borders and hard edges.

Second End Records’ newest VA compilation signifies an empathic shift in sound and ethos that is slowly taking hold across disparate corners of electronic music, woven collectively by fifteen artists across the globe into something that transcends demarcation. More than a compilation, but rather a flowing and coalescing vision, each track connects delicately to the next like glowing threads through a shared dream, gently carrying the listener through rich topographies of distant bass, weightless percussion, and soft tunnelling textures.
