This EP is one of the heaviest\/deepest EP's to come out on the label so far, and it's been a long time coming really. I had heard of Zeldin initially though the badman Gymstar what feels like a year ago maybe even more honestly? Shortly after that, Zak hit me up with some ridiculous material and an EP had to get sorted. At first this release was going to be another split EP but I've been trying to take a bit more of a backseat with my own productions on HVS, and there were too many bangin' tunes being sent over, so it only made sense to highlight Zeldin's work! In the time between pressing and now I've heard nothing but top notch tunes from Zak, Marksman and Rinse3000 either through collaborations or individual tracks. All three artists are relatively new to the scene as well but are absolute wizards with the productions so I wouldn't be surprised to see them on some super big tings in the near future.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eZeldin and I are perfectionists to a certain extent (myself to a fault sometimes)... another reason this EP took a sec. All four tunes went through several different iterations on the\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e writing and mixdown, especially “Forwaaaad” (which almost didn't make it due to a mastering issue) and “Wah Jobble” to get them just right. B2 was sent to me as a potential collab track but was more or less a completed Zak Mak tune, albeit still sparse enough to take apart for a remix. Originally I cut up all the stems for my S3000XL for sequencing, and there's actually a completely different mix in the Akai (that might come out at some point). However that version didn't really fit the vibe of the EP so I bounced out the Akai audio for a new version just in FL Studio and then passed the stems back and forth between Zak and Mak for the final mix. Featuring 3 tracks of super heavy Jungle cuts, and a rumbling collab track with Zak Mak (Zeldin \u0026amp; Marksman) \u0026amp; Quaad. This EP is one of the heaviest\/deepest EP's to come out on the label so far, and it's been a long time coming really. I had heard of Zeldin initially though the badman Gymstar what feels like a year ago maybe even more honestly? Shortly after that, Zak hit me up with some ridiculous material and an EP had to get sorted. At first this release was going to be another split EP but I've been trying to take a bit more of a backseat with my own productions on HVS, and there were too many bangin' tunes being sent over, so it only made sense to highlight Zeldin's work! In the time between pressing and now I've heard nothing but top notch tunes from Zak, Marksman and Rinse3000 either through collaborations or individual tracks. All three artists are relatively new to the scene as well but are absolute wizards with the productions so I wouldn't be surprised to see them on some super big tings in the near future.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eZeldin and I are perfectionists to a certain extent (myself to a fault sometimes)... another reason this EP took a sec. All four tunes went through several different iterations on the\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e writing and mixdown, especially “Forwaaaad” (which almost didn't make it due to a mastering issue) and “Wah Jobble” to get them just right. B2 was sent to me as a potential collab track but was more or less a completed Zak Mak tune, albeit still sparse enough to take apart for a remix. Originally I cut up all the stems for my S3000XL for sequencing, and there's actually a completely different mix in the Akai (that might come out at some point). However that version didn't really fit the vibe of the EP so I bounced out the Akai audio for a new version just in FL Studio and then passed the stems back and forth between Zak and Mak for the final mix. From sharing Japanese nicknames for clouds while looking at the sky above a rest stop (fishscale cloud, dragon cloud, sardine cloud, sleep cloud, sheep cloud), searching\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e for matching socks in a bin at a clothing store, to an ode to Tan Tan, a beloved panda who had recently died of old age at the Kobe Oji Zoo — they both seek out and sing to the magic in the everyday.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThat’s what this experience came to feel like: magic, every day. As the group worked, they watched the Pacific Ocean advance and recede from the windows of the Guggenheim House. Over those two days, they’d compose and record eight songs, listed in order of creation, on the album that came to be called Wao.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\"What is also cool about the album is that the house is very much not a recording studio so it sounds super live and because it's also right on the train tracks you can often hear the train in the recordings as it drives by. In an act of well-coordinated serendipity, Koji Saito of 7e.p. records enlisted Saya and Ueno of Tenniscoats, the revered Japanese duo, to tour with and perform backing band duties throughout their stops in Matsumoto, Nagoya, Kobe, Kyoto, and Tokyo.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe four could only rehearse twice, but it was all they needed. Their connection was immediate and felt in the music; their shows fluid, elastic, and just the right amount of unpredictable. Saya and Krgovich soon realized the closeness in their approach to lyric writing. From sharing Japanese nicknames for clouds while looking at the sky above a rest stop (fishscale cloud, dragon cloud, sardine cloud, sleep cloud, sheep cloud), searching\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e for matching socks in a bin at a clothing store, to an ode to Tan Tan, a beloved panda who had recently died of old age at the Kobe Oji Zoo — they both seek out and sing to the magic in the everyday.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThat’s what this experience came to feel like: magic, every day. As the group worked, they watched the Pacific Ocean advance and recede from the windows of the Guggenheim House. Over those two days, they’d compose and record eight songs, listed in order of creation, on the album that came to be called Wao.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\"What is also cool about the album is that the house is very much not a recording studio so it sounds super live and because it's also right on the train tracks you can often hear the train in the recordings as it drives by.
