"2010年代の夜明けにプロビデンスのノイズ・サーキットの肥沃な深淵で鍛え上げられ、今や十分に熟成し（現代アメリカ実験音楽のサブ・アンダーグラウンド領域において）一種のスーパーグループとして活動するPoolは、ぬめり気のある沼地に住むカセット・コラージュという独特のスタイルを今も届けている。地下公演、アカデミックな前衛芸術、ビデオ直販のスプラッター映画など、その深淵と高みを幾度も探求してきた経験を持つクリス・フォーグ（Kites、Mark Lord など）、レン・スコフィールド（Container）、エリック・グリースハーバー（Soft Target、VOSP）、アレクサンダー・トミンスキー（Spiritual Recess）が、その起源も手法も不明な、1時間近くのサウンドを届けてくれる。

Odlawのアートワークは、そのサウンドについていくつかのヒントを与えている。表側には、汚れてしわくちゃになった方眼紙を覆い尽くす、吐き気を催すようなエンドウ豆色の液体。内側には、1980年代後半のバドワイザーで有名になったスパッズ・マッケンジーが、冷えたビールを注ぎながら微笑んでいる。両面を再生すると、不気味の谷を思わせるゴボゴボ、ズルズル、チュッという音に、電子音と具体音楽的な抽象音がアクセントと枠組みを加える。これは国費で運営される音楽研究所も羨むクオリティだ。だがここに気取ったところは一切ない。ただ4人の大人たちが、皮肉な笑みを浮かべ、目を輝かせて、冷えたビールを開け、プールでくつろぐよう誘っているだけなのだ。"

"Forged in the fecund depths of the Providence noise circuit at the dawn of the 2010s; now well-marinated and acting as a super group of sorts (amongst the sub-underground segment of the modern American experimental canon), Pool continues to deliver their peculiar strain of slimy, bog-dwelling cassette collages. Informed by several lifetimes of trawling the heights and depths of basement performances, academic avant garde, and direct-to-video splatter flicks, Chris Forgues (Kites, Mark Lord, etc), Ren Schofield (Container), Eric Grieshaber (Soft Target, VOSP), and Alexander Tominsky (Spiritual Recess) serve up nearly an hour of sounds of unknown origin and obscure technique.

𝑶𝒅𝒍𝒂𝒘’s artwork gives some clues as to its audio: on the front, a nauseatingly pea-green liquid overtaking stained and crumpled graph paper; on the inside, Spuds MacKenzie (of late 1980s Budweiser fame) pouring a frosty brew and smiling. Playing through each side, we're treated to uncanny valley-esque gurgles, slurps, and smacks, punctuated and framed by electronic tones and concrète abstractions that would be the envy of any state-funded musical research laboratory. But there's no pretensions here, just four grown men with wry smiles and twinkles in their eyes, inviting you to crack a cold one and lounge for a bit in the... Pool."
