イギリスのノイズレーベルVanity Pill Tapes主宰Reece Thomasが、2024年1月にアメリカ・LAの実験／ダンスレーベルJungle Gymから50本限定でリリースしたカセットです。

自身の自閉症やジェンダーアイデンティティへのセルフケアとして制作したドリーミーなアンビエント〜アンビエントドローン6曲を収録。DLコード付属。

以下、作家本人による解説です。

"2018年に録音したアルバムで、もともとは私のためだけに作った。私の他作品よりも楽観的なサウンドパレットにもかかわらず、"Faces In The Rise "は私の人生において極めて激動の時期に制作した。私はまだ自分の自閉症を理解し始めておらず、その存在について深い不安を抱えていた。当時は自分だけが知っていたジェンダーとの戦いも、光の当たるところから完全に遠ざけられていたが、私の健康に大きな打撃を与え始めていた。現実からかけ離れ、自分の体さえも遠ざかっているように感じ、私は極度に孤立し、切り離されたように感じた。この暗い場所で私は、潮の満ち引きの繰り返しを見ること、すべての音、動き、感覚を吸収すること、そして最終的には、かつて経験したことのない方法で自分自身と再びつながることで、心の平安と強さを見出した。このアルバムを通して、私は自閉症に空間と構造を与える反復音の重要性を発見した。この静けさの中で、私は自分のジェンダーアイデンティティについて、そしてその中で海岸（そして自然全般）が果たす重要な役割について、より深く発見することができた。

つまり、"Faces In The Rise "は、自然が私たち自身を形成する手助けをし、音と繰り返しによって海岸のテクスチャーを再現し、それぞれの要素が、私たち自身が割り当てるバリアによってのみ制限された、広大な世界であることを認めようとする試みなのだ。"

"Shelved album from 2018, originally made just for me. Despite a more optimistic sonic palette than much of my work, "Faces In The Rise" was made at the height of an extremely turbulent time in my life. I had not yet begun to understand my autism and was deeply insecure about it, with any visible signs of its existence leaving me ashamed and confused. My battles with gender, known only to me at the time, were also kept completely away from the light, but were beginning to take a heavy toll on my health. Feeling far removed from reality and even my own body, I felt extremely isolated and disconnected. In this dark place I found a lot of inner peace and strength in watching the repetitive cycles of the tide, soaking up every sound, every movement, every feeling and, eventually, reconnecting to myself in a way I never had before. Through this album I discovered the importance of repetitive sound in giving space and structure to my autism. It was in this calm that I was able to discover more about my gender identity, and the vital role the coast (and nature in general) plays within it.

In short, "Faces In The Rise" is an attempt to allow space for nature in helping to shape who we are, recreating these coastal textures through sound and repetition, each element its own vast world, restrained only by the barriers that we ourselves assign."
