"Vesuの「List of Lizards」シリーズの第3弾となる『Tokage No Risuto』では、前作の『Going Good』や『Vieno』以上に、Vesuがダブの伝統の深みへと踏み込んでいる。ビートはスローダウンし、雰囲気はより濃厚になった。ダウンテンポなリズム、アンビエントな流れ、そしてダブを思わせるエコーがサウンドスケープを織り成し、時折、きらめきながらミックスの中に溶け込んでいくゲストボーカルが加わる。ハードウェア・シンセとサンプラーの脈動が骨格を形成し、それが後にデジタル領域の精密さによって形作られていく。

トラック内に響き渡る弦楽器のエコーのように、このアルバムのレコーディング・プロセスそのものが空間の探求であった。素材は寝室や地下室、高層マンション、さらにはスオメンリンナでの束の間のセッションに至るまで、ゆっくりと録音されていった。

『Tokage No Risuto』には数多くのゲストが参加しており、中でも特に注目すべきは、伝説的な音楽の先駆者であり木管楽器奏者でもある、リネラディオのタパニ・リンネである。

ヴェサ＝マッティ・キヴィオヤ（別名Vesu's）は、フィンランドのヴァアサ出身のエレクトロニック・アーティストであり、サウンド・エクスプローラーだ。80年代半ば生まれの彼は、深みのあるダブ調の雰囲気、豊かなアンビエントのレイヤー、そして催眠的な4つ打ちのリズムを通じて、フィンランド西海岸のアンダーグラウンドなエネルギーを表現している。90年代後半から活動を続けているVesu'sは、ゴーイング・グッド、ヴィエノ、メルトダウン・ディージェイズから作品をリリースしており、ダブ、アンビエント、テクノの境界線を曖昧にするダイナミックなライブセットを披露し、常にサウンドを新たな没入型の領域へと押し広げている。"

"Tokage No Risuto, the third instalment in Vesu’s “List of Lizards” saga, sees Vesu’s migrate deeper into the dub tradition than its predecessors on Going Good and Vieno ever did. The beats have slowed down; the atmospheres thickened. Downtempo rhythms, ambient drifts, and dub-infused echoes weave through the landscape, joined at times by guest voices that shimmer and dissolve into the mix. The pulse of hardware synths and samplers lending the backbone that is later shaped by the precision of the digital realm.

Like the reverberating string echoes within the tracks, the album’s recording process was an exploration of space. The material was slowly recorded in bedrooms and basements, high floor flats, and even in a fleeting session in Suomenlinna.

Tokage No Risuto has a number of guest appearances, most notably the legendary musical pioneer and woodwind instrumentalist Tapani Rinne of Rinneradio.

Vesa-Matti Kivioja, aka Vesu’s, is an electronic artist and sound explorer from Vaasa, Finland. Born in the mid-80s, he channels the underground energy of Finland’s west coast through deep, dubby atmospheres, lush ambient layers, and hypnotic four-to-the-floor rhythms. Active since the late ’90s, Vesu’s has released on Going Good, Vieno, and Meltdown Deejays, and delivers dynamic live sets that blur the lines between dub, ambient, and techno — always pushing sound into new, immersive territory."
