"私は、このアルバムのリリースに関して、自分自身の頑固さと傲慢さに関係して、多くの間違った決断を下してきた。しかし、私は明らかに、この分野で問題となりうる特定の寓意、隠喩、象徴を避けたかった。だから私は、この形式を取り入れ、自分の好みに合わせて変異させ、崩壊に関する特定のアイデアの中でそれらの戦略を適応させ、適切な方向に発展させた。このすべては、カリフォルニア州オークランドでアネンツェファリアのオープニングを飾る機会を得た2018年に始まった。そしてこのアルバムは、パンツァー・ビート、機械加工されたノイズ、地獄のような電気が織り成すヒドラ頭の怪物へと発展していった。多くの意味で、このアルバムは2010年代後半に取り組んでいたアイデアの集大成であり、またかなり異なって感じられる2020年以降の作品へとつながっている。"

"inconsequential" is haynes consciously channeling the god of cold industrial, anenzephalia, and coming out on the other side with a totally sovereign statement on authoritarian dread. an album that transmits the adrenaline soaked anxiety of the merciless advancement of the process. nagging, nauseating oscillations, nervously braying spinal screeching, skull resonating ambience. utilizing a more partitioned layering of sonic elements than his recent masterpieces like turbulence or insomnia, and working within more industrial song structures, haynes once again silently slaughters us with a masterpiece that feels simultaneously massive, and as if it's occurring inside your brain stem"

"i almost walked away from the album, having made a lot of bad decisions in regards to its release, all having to do with my own stubbornness and my own hubris. but here it is, all thanks to white centipede noise and oskar for making this happen. this is an album of heavy electronics, adjacent to form coined through tesco organisation to describe the likes of anenzephalia, deutsche nepal, advokat ihrer hoheit, etc. but i clearly wanted to avoid certain allegories, metaphors, and symbols that can be problematic with the field. so i took the form, mutated it to my own liking, adapted those strategies within certain ideas on decay, and allowed it to develop a proper course. all of this started back in 2018, when i had the opportunity to open for anenzephalia in oakland, california. the reaction to the show was positive, but i felt i could push those ideas further, heighten the dynamics, and intensify the noise; and the album developed into a hydra-headed monstrosity of panzer beats, machined noise, and infernal electricity. in many ways, it marks a culmination of the ideas i was working on during the late 2010s, and it also leads into the post-2020 work which feels considerably different. yeah, i did finish the first draft of inconsequential right before the pandemic broke in 2020, then it got remixed a couple of times before oskar got to hear it. all of those historical facts are probably irrelevant to anybody except me, and here i am making note of something irrelevant. here is my variant on an industrial noise / heavy electronic record released in 2024. make of that what you will."

He was the founding member of the seminal German group P16.D4 and ran the legendary experimental label Selektion whose ground-breaking releases influenced many working in today's experimental music scene. Like many other members of that scene, Vida remains a restless product of a fleeting context - Chicago during the 1990s and early 2000s - continuously undermining concrete notions of idiom and signifier within a practice that witnessed him rendering bristling abstractions within Pillow, glacial melodies with Town and Country, the art-rock mayhem of Bird Show Band, and the angular, driving indie rock of Joan of Arc, before becoming immersed in a practice of systems based synthesis, beginning in the 2010s, that guided much of his first decade of output as a solo performer and composer.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eAs early as 2013, he began to incorporate acoustic sound sources - specifically the human voice - into his work. It was this shift, evolving and refining itself over the last decade, that underscores radically the leap in his practice represented by “Vocal\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e Trio”, a work that encounters Vida composing for the human voice with the ideas that allow for synthesis - transferring the underlying concepts and structures of both subtractive and additive synthesis to the acoustic realm - without using a synthesiser.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDuring the Spring of 2022 Vida was in Bremen, Germany, collaborating on a dance piece with the choreographer Fay Driscoll, when the production fell into delays. Finding himself with time on his hands, a space at his disposal, and the company of two dancers - Amy Gernux and Lotte Rudhart - who were also singers, the idea for the piece - to utilising the larynx as audio paths (multi-harmonic or harmonically pure) while conceptualising each person’s mouth as a filter to sculpt the timbre and resonance of a given tone - began to take shape in his mind. Considering how typographical scores might be developed into a non-linguistic social framework, Vida drafted a single page of text - what became the score for “Vocal Trio” - accompanied by a set of harmonic suggestion and loose parameters, seeking a core meaning from each word's phonic make-up by each of the three singers (Vida, Gernux and Rudhart) singing as slowly as possible.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAt the core of the pulsing vocal drones - intoxicating, harmonically rich long-tones - that make up the duration abstraction of “Vocal Trio”, is Vida’s regard for music as a social space. It is an experiment that seeks liberation through the act of collective music making, by challenging the terms through which the act of composing is perceived and then relinquishing control. Like many other members of that scene, Vida remains a restless product of a fleeting context - Chicago during the 1990s and early 2000s - continuously undermining concrete notions of idiom and signifier within a practice that witnessed him rendering bristling abstractions within Pillow, glacial melodies with Town and Country, the art-rock mayhem of Bird Show Band, and the angular, driving indie rock of Joan of Arc, before becoming immersed in a practice of systems based synthesis, beginning in the 2010s, that guided much of his first decade of output as a solo performer and composer.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eAs early as 2013, he began to incorporate acoustic sound sources - specifically the human voice - into his work. It was this shift, evolving and refining itself over the last decade, that underscores radically the leap in his practice represented by “Vocal\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e Trio”, a work that encounters Vida composing for the human voice with the ideas that allow for synthesis - transferring the underlying concepts and structures of both subtractive and additive synthesis to the acoustic realm - without using a synthesiser.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDuring the Spring of 2022 Vida was in Bremen, Germany, collaborating on a dance piece with the choreographer Fay Driscoll, when the production fell into delays. Finding himself with time on his hands, a space at his disposal, and the company of two dancers - Amy Gernux and Lotte Rudhart - who were also singers, the idea for the piece - to utilising the larynx as audio paths (multi-harmonic or harmonically pure) while conceptualising each person’s mouth as a filter to sculpt the timbre and resonance of a given tone - began to take shape in his mind. Considering how typographical scores might be developed into a non-linguistic social framework, Vida drafted a single page of text - what became the score for “Vocal Trio” - accompanied by a set of harmonic suggestion and loose parameters, seeking a core meaning from each word's phonic make-up by each of the three singers (Vida, Gernux and Rudhart) singing as slowly as possible.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAt the core of the pulsing vocal drones - intoxicating, harmonically rich long-tones - that make up the duration abstraction of “Vocal Trio”, is Vida’s regard for music as a social space.
