Bob Bellerue is the impetus behind the project but the \u003cspan class=\"gmail_default\"\u003eall-star\u003c\/span\u003e lineup of participants, each an accomplished composer\/performer, ensures that this is a robust, fully formed collection of ideas and abilities. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe pieces are in large part simple ideas that are made into a form by the musicians. Many of the works involve improvisation in previously unknown processes and contexts. As a first-time instrumental composer, Bellerue had no idea how it would go, but he knew he could trust the skills of the performers to create something awesome within the loose focus of his scores. Ultimately, the brilliance of the individual playing is something he could never have articulated in advance.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eRecording took place on July 29 \u0026amp; 30, 2020 at the First Unitarian Church of Brooklyn Heights. Mixing and editing took place throughout the remainder of 2020 and into Spring 2021. Some sections benefited from re-amping the recordings (pumping sound into speakers on timpani, snare drums, and metal objects) to create additional textures and resonant harmonics. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThis is a project borne of feedback between speakers and instruments, but the context in which it came to fruition demonstrated the deep interconnections between people and systems of communication\/transportation. For the performers, working with these sounds and processes provided substance for working through these difficult times.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eBob Bellerue is a sound artist, experimental musician, sound\/video curator, and creative technician based in Ridgewood NY. Over the last 30+ years he has been involved in creating and presenting a wide range of sonic activities – experimental music, sound art, noise, junk metal percussion ensembles, soundtracks for dance\/ theater\/ video\/ performance art, and sound \/ video installations.
