" We're thrilled to welcome back our old friend James Murray as we reissue his romantically-themed 'Landscapes of Lovers' this Valentine's Day. Originally released in 2018 on the Fluid Audio / Facture label, it is a personal favourite and in celebration of this we're also releasing his latest longform work 'Safehaven' as well as a selected mix of his work for Home Normal by curator Ian Hawgood.

'Landscapes of Lovers' was quite a different release from James' well established instantly recognisable ambient electronic works at the time, instead containing two tracks clocking in at just under 20 minutes each. The album worked as a kaleidoscopic dream of evolving soundscapes with pulsing melodicism at its core. Not only is James one of the most talented sound-designers we know, but it is his use of melody and the ability to never stay too long at any given moment within a piece that makes 'Landscapes of Lovers' so surprising in its focus, length and vision.

The greatness of this original release, mastered by James Plotkin, is in its reflection of love in all its forms, in the fire and 'inescapable intoxication' as James Catchpole noted in his original press release. As a fan of James' numerous works I keep coming back to this in particular for its sheer ambition in representation and how it absolutely holds your attention in the gentlest of ways. It takes a special sort of person to reflect on the hurt and binding of love, to then express it in musical form as he does so purely here. This is a gift we can all share in on our journeys wherever and with whoever those may be."
