Holy Smokeの片割れとしても活動しているアメリカ・LAの実験ヒップホップ作家zerohが、2024年8月にLAの老舗オールジャンルレーベルLeaving Recordsからリリースしたカセットです。

実験ヒップホップ〜トラップ4曲を収録。B面はリピートです。

以下、作家本人による解説です。

"SUMLYTEは言葉遊びのようなもので、『BLQLYTE』（2020年、Leaving）に続くものだが、より溶融しておらず、より明確で、短く、甘い、未完成の小さな何かだ。約束は過少に、そして過剰に提供するという私の習慣に立ち返ったものだ。だから、期限を決めて、最後までやり遂げようと最善を尽くした。明日何が起こるかわからないが、少なくとも自分のアイデアのいくつかはリスナーに届けたい。最終的には、何か意味のあることを言いながら、母が好きそうな曲を何曲か作りたいんだ。"

Artist statement:

"SUMLYTE is a play on words.. a follow up to BLQLYTE (2020, Leaving), but less molten, more clear, short and sweet - an unfinished little something. A throwback to my habit of under-promising and over-delivering. Although I had hoped, it was never going to be perfect - so I asked for a due date and did my best to reach the end. I’m tired of watching the years pass without releasing music - I don’t know what will happen tomorrow but I want at least some of my ideas to reach listeners. Ultimately I just want to make a few songs my mom might like while saying something that means something."
